Pride Fest Palm Beaches

Thanks to their private-public partnership with the city of Lake Worth, Compass was able to acquire its new home with a low-rent lease for the next 20 years in downtown Lake Worth.

Thanks to their private-public partnership with the city of Lake Worth, Compass was able to acquire its new home with a low-rent lease for the next 20 years in downtown Lake Worth. Because of that their theme for this year’s Pridefest is “There is no place like home”. Their very own Lucy and Ricky Ricardo will be the MCs for the sixteenth annual PrideFest of the Palm Beaches.

Compass Mission

Compass aims to diminish stereotypes by challenging long-standing misconceptions about the character of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. ENTERTAINMENT
U.S. dance/pop record label, Robbins Entertainment Jenna Drey will headline the sixteenth annual event on Sunday. The event plans to attract nearly 10,000 people from South Florida and the Treasure Coast. Drey, is currently working on releasing a new album in the Summer of 2009, as a follow up to her previous two albums, which contained the dance hits such as “Killin’ Me”, & “Why Should I Believe You”, and the 2007 hit “By The Way” – which maintained a Billboard chart position for 16 weeks. Jenna also released the music video for “Why Should I Believe You,” making it one of the first music videos filmed in high definition (HDTV).

Saturday’s featured entertainment includes a variety of folk rock, indie, Latin and soulful music by Karmic Flo, Tony Cruz, Shelina, Bev McClelland and Teri Catlin. Miami Beach’s and Living Room’s resident DJ, Oren Nizri, will return to spin soulful house music, rounding out Sunday’s wide range of entertainment including Julian, Jenna Drey and Velvet Lenore and the REBAR dancers.

More than 150 local businesses will showcase everything from jewelry and art to non-profit organizations. Washington Mutual, Sun-Sentinel, Gay Yellow Pages, Wild 95.5, Marks List, Hotspots Magazine and Latino Boys Magazine are among the leading sponsors for this year’s festival.

PARADE
Sunday’s Grand Parade will begin at 11:30am at South L Street and Lucerne Ave., will make its way down Lake Avenue and marshaled down to Bryant Park. Entertainers Tony Cruz, Shelina and Velvet Lenore are the grand marshals for the parade.
