Over 100 people attended this networker and social event overlooking the beautiful Fort Lauderdale beach. Wednesday Scandals featured the first Lady Fancy’s Country Jamboree. This show, which takes place the second Wednesday of each month, featured an opening monologue by Lady Fancy as Miss Minnie Pearl and Lady Fancy’s “Stable of Country Greats” including Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Patsy Cline and many more. This was a real fun event that I urge you all to attend next month – you can bet I will be there.  Friday night I headed down to South Beach for Miami Beach Bruthaz South Beach Men’s Show – Summer “The Spy Who Loved Me” -which featured a men’s swimwear and underwear fashion show at the Maxine Lounge outdoor pool at the Catalina Hotel and Beach Club. This event featured some of the sexiest ethnic models around and was filled with lots of admirers. After the fashion show we were all given a gift bag with a beach towel from Undergear.com, among other things. The after party took place at Twist and, as usual, Twist was wall to wall men. On Saturday Island City Traders presented Dixie’s Tupperware Party, a benefit for the Pet Project. The event featured Dixie herself selling her Tupperware in the way only she can, food and refreshments, live entertainment by up and coming artists, giveaways and raffles. This event was a blast and raised much needed money for The Pet Project.

whatshotSFL2On Sunday Score celebrated their 12th anniversary with a themed party entitled “12 Years on the Road” starring superstar DJs Abel for T-dance and Pablo Ceballos from the acclaimed duo of Chus & Ceballos. The event was packed with party boys and the who’s who of South Beach gay royalty. Seen there were Joel from Twist, anchorman Craig Stevens, Hilton and Melanie Wolman, Rafa and Thomas from Wire, Tony Rodriguez, Josue Santiago of Latino Boys Magazine, Stephen Moss (owner of G-Bar, Honey Pot, Eagle and Social Club in Ybor), Edison Farrow (SoBe Social Club), and hundreds of other well wishers. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Billy, Luis and the entire staff congratulations on a great anniversary and I wish them many more to come!

Eric Himan will be returning to Bill’s for his third appearance at 10 pm tonight. Eric Himan is so grassroots his face is green, though his music tells a different story. Without the help of record labels, booking agents, publicists or management, Eric Himan is touring more places, getting great press coverage and still has time to run his record label, Thumbcrown Records, home to his six studio albums. He just released his newest, “Resonate,” and has five years of relentless touring in the US under his belt.   His music draws comparisons to male artists such as Maroon 5 and John Mayer, but also female singer-songwriters Ani DiFranco and Tracy Chapman.

This organization seems to have its priorities in order and has some big plans for the community….stay tuned. Afterwards I went to the Boardwalk with a lot of the Hotspots staff for the final day of their 25th anniversary celebration where the yacht trip was given away. While there we took the opportunity to eat at Beefcake’s and once again the food was delicious. Thursday night was the first finals of the Cuchifrito underwear contest. All I can say is that Cuchifrito is like Vegas and what happens at Cuchifrito stays there. Make sure you go by on a Thursday and try not to get wet. In an uncommonly swift, surprise decision, the State of Florida’s Board of Nursing has reinstated Ray Fetcho (aka Tiny Tina), the LPN who was fired for a conviction related to his participation in a wet jockeys contest over 30 years ago. The decision took officials less than 30 days to publish, which is an unprecedented timeframe and ruling. This is being hailed as “a victory for LGBT employment rights.” Congratulations to my friend Ray!
