BENEFITING HIV/AIDS SERVICES OF THE CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF THE ARCHDIOCESE OF MIAMI

SATURDAY, AUGUST 16

Curiosities Auction House (1105 NE 13th Street, Fort Lauderdale) will be setting aside one night this month to raise money for a good cause, specifically the cause of giving aid to poverty-stricken individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. Curiosities’ charity auction will be held on Saturday, August 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the main beneficiary will be the HIV/AIDS services wing of the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami.

Attendees will be welcomed into the 5,700-square-foot space and will be offered drinks and hors d’oeuvres as they view the items on the auction block for the evening. The items will range from furniture, artwork, memorabilia, antiques, collectibles, jewelry, statues, and even large items like automobiles and unique items like historical artifacts. If you are interested in supporting the cause of the evening, you can donate items specifically for the auction by e-mailing ray@curiositiesauction.com. Proceeds from the auction will be donated directly to the HIV/AIDS services wing of the Catholic Charities.

Curiosities Auction House believes it is time for the people in the community to come together and donate to people in need. The people served by the Catholic Charities live off an average of just $721 a month. The Catholic Charities work with people living with HIV/AIDS across South Florida by providing a variety of services, such as counseling, emotional support and chances for social interaction. The Charities also provide life skills training, public benefits application assistance, and emergency services such as financial assistance and a food pantry.

The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami have served the needy, regardless of religion, throughout Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties since 1931. Their HIV/AIDS Services wing first provided services in 1993.
