As a follow up, every once in awhile we will be focusing on one of their artists/writers, etc. This feature focuses on the very talented photographer Mark Henderson and his new coffee table book Luminosity (although I don’t know who would be able to concentrate on their coffee while looking at the absolutely stunning men in Luminosity). His previous coffee table books include: Household Idols, Suburban Pleasures, and Poolside.
Mr. Henderson, is a photographer based in Texas and Southern California who specializes in images of erotic male nudes. His work continues the tradition of physique and erotic pin-up photography, but with an emphasis on luxurious domestic settings and the expressive use of saturated color. He worked for many years as an art historian at a leading cultural institution in Los Angeles but has now taken to photography full-time. Although he continues to work occasionally in Los Angeles, he shoots primarily in his home state of Texas. In addition to the coffee table books devoted entirely to his photographs, highlights of his work are included in Men: Twenty Five Years in Photography and various anthology books published by Bruno Gmünder, including Beautiful Vision, The Men of beautifulmag.eu., Jewels, Brief Encounters, Turn On: Tattoos, Natural Beauty, and Trunk Show. His work appeared regularly in Men, Freshman, and Unzipped magazines, and his images have been featured in Männer, beautifulmag.eu, DNA, The Male Form, Display, Romeo and other publications.
According to renowned photographer Fred Bisonnes “Of the several contemporary photographers whose focus is the nude male and whose individual work I admire, it’s Mark Henderson who has broken out of the pack and established himself as a Jim French for the New Millennium.”
Gmünder is always interested in collaborating with new writers, artists and photographers for novels, anthologies, photo or comic books, or magazine features.
