whcf bannerThis past week marked my first trip to Orlando specifically for HotSpots, and it was fun seeing everyone out and about and most importantly, enjoying the magazine! I am always impressed at how many people in Central Florida can’t wait to pick up our magazines and see our colorful ads and informative features. I couldn’t be prouder of myself as well as everyone else who puts together such a stellar product and represents our brand beautifully.

This past week marked my first trip to Orlando specifically for HotSpots, and it was fun seeing everyone out and about and most importantly, enjoying the magazine! I am always impressed at how many people in Central Florida can’t wait to pick up our magazines and see our colorful ads and informative features. I couldn’t be prouder of myself as well as everyone else who puts together such a stellar product and represents our brand beautifully.

This month I will be making two trips to Orlando (specifically Parliament House). One I already told you about in this column, and the other is a very momentous occasion…Parliament House is celebrating their 38th anniversary! Lots of congratulations and love to the hard workers who make the Parliament House experience so fun!

I dug far and wide for some fun options this week. Hope you like them! Lots of love to you all!

Thursday July 11

WHCF hambmarysHamburger Mary’s in Tampa is hosting “Mary’s Got Talent,” emceed by RuPaul’s Drag Race (and hometown) favorite Alexis Mateo, alongside Anjila Cavalier. Be there to sign up at 7:30 and the show will start at 8:30. The best amateur talent act wins $100 in cash! First runner-up wins $50 in credit which can be used for food or drinks. Do you have what it takes to become a Mary’s “Star of Tomorrow”? Come on over and wow the crowd; you just might be taking home a Benjamin!

Get on down to the Ybor City Social Club in Tampa for a spicy Thursday you won’t soon forget! Alexis de la Mer will be hosting a drag show and is performing alongside Nae Nae Dominatrix and Dioré Demure. Showtime is at midnight and there will be a crowd-participation “booty shake” contest at 1:15! The winner earns a bar tab and free underwear from sponsor GMT.

Friday July 12

Valentines Nightclub in Tampa will be having ladies’ night, so everyone should get cute and rush on over because the club will be jumpin’. DJ Reuben will be playing today’s hottest hits and there are two drag shows, one at midnight and one at 1:30, featuring Apple Love as emcee and the talents of Aquira Sherrington and Nairobi D’Viante! Free cover before 10:30.

Saturday July 13

At Parliament House in Orlando, the doors will be opening at 8 for a special “Grindr Party”! Why relyWHCF sat iggy exclusively on your smartphone when you KNOW everyone you’re secretly lusting after is less than 100 feet away from you at the same party? Show your Grindr app at the door and you win yourself free cover. Of course the Footlight Players will be performing two shows at 10 and 12.

At Pulse in Orlando, they will be having a single release party for Australian R&B sensation Iggy Azalea, whose single “Work”, already a Top 20 hit in the UK, is now being released in the U.S. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Sunday July 14

A brand new T-Dance is starting this month and will soon become a Sunday favorite at Masquerades Bar and Cabaret in Port Charlotte. Hosting the dance will be Amanda Bone DeMornay with special guest Lady Janet from Tampa. The dance starts at 10 p.m. but feel free to come early and order some food — in case you didn’t know, Masquerades is a bar and grill!

Monday July 15

Every WHCF mondayone of us is a “little bit country” if Marie Osmond can be believed, and Tubby’s City Hangout in Cape Coral is putting that reasoning to the test. Monday is “Boots and Spurs” night, with country music playing throughout the evening and free line dance lessons with James starting at 8 p.m. Put on your cowboy hat and your denim and let the Suncoast know you’re “here for the party!”

Tuesday July 16

Georgie’s Alibi in St. Petersburg pulls out all the stops for a fun-filled sing-a-long on Tuesdays. Starting at 4 p.m., DJ Danny Morris mixes TV and comedy along with everyone’s favorite showtunes. Then at 9 p.m., DJ L Mo takes over and karaoke night begins. Pick a song and belt it out! As always, Georgie’s has a food menu so get comfortable with your good food and cocktails and have a fun musical day!
