Okay! This is a busy week! Let’s go through the Orlando Pride headlining acts in our intro, since that’s the leading event of the week! On Thursday, October 3, Pride’s opening ceremony, hosted by Doug Ba’aser, will feature a performance by hot gay country sensation Steve Grand. This will be at the Cheyenne Saloon on Church Street, and doors open at 6 p.m. On Friday, October 4, Church Street will be the scene of the Pride Outdoor Block Party, with performances by dance diva Martha Wash, as well as Amy & Freddy and The Broadway Babes. This starts at 8 p.m. On Saturday, October 5, there will be a day-long festival at Lake Eola, with a parade starting later in the day, at 4 p.m., and fireworks at 9 p.m. After that, head on over to the Parliament House where there will be two Footlight Player shows and singer Taylor Dayne in concert! Now here are some more events you’ll like! Lots of love to you all!

Thursday October 3

whcf thurAfter you kick off Pride down on Church Street, Revolution wants you to come on down to Bumby Avenue and celebrate with them. It’s “Pledge Thursdays” with a special Pride twist. There will be a show at 12:30 a.m. with cast members Axel Andrews, Kitana Gemini, Maya Andrews, Sasha Colby and Kai’Ja Adonis. No cover for 21 and up, as well as for 18 and up if you have your college ID!

The second of two preliminary rounds start tonight for the Miss Gay USofA at Large pageant. The final will be held tomorrow at Parliament House‘s Footlight Theater. Over 30 contestants from across the country, including Central Florida’s own Jocelyn Summers, will be vying for the prestigious crown. Cost to attend the second preliminary round is $10, and the final round on Friday costs $20. VIP and reserved seating are extra.

Sawmill Resort in Dade City will be celebrating the start of October with a sehr deutsch (very whcf thur oktobGerman) Oktoberfest! There will be horses, a harvest dance, a bear pool party and a sausage contest! I don’t know about that last one…they didn’t elaborate on it…I assume it means the kind you grill at a barbecue, although I like the other kind too! The festivities start tonight and occur through Sunday.

Friday October 4

How exciting for the queens coming in for the pageant to see Alyssa Edwards from RuPaul’s Drag Race! Alyssa, no stranger to pageants herself, will be performing at Parliament House with the Footlight Players at 12 a.m. (they will have a show at 10 p.m. as well sans special guest). DJ Randy Bettis will be in from New York City dropping the beats with local DJ Joanie.

whcf friday latriceAt Pulse in Orlando, Infusion Fridays presents The Pink Ball, with the “chunky yet funky” special guest Latrice Royale from RuPaul’s Drag Race. There will be no cover for 21 and up before 11 p.m. A portion of all the night’s proceeds will be going to the American Cancer Society.

Don’t RuPaulogize for seeing triple — there is indeed a RuPaul’s Drag Race invasion this weekend, with three different queens at three different venues in Central Florida. Chad Michaels is planning to turn it out at The Honey Pot’s Steam Fridays in Tampa. With the release of Cher’s new album Closer to the Truth, Chad has a lot of material that you’re going to love!

Saturday October 5

After you’ve had a great day of Pride at Lake Eola, you can go over to Stonewall Bar Orlando as the Stonewall Starlettes present “Proud”: The After Party. Shows will be performed at 8:30 and 11 p.m. with special guests The Divine Grace and Kiana Thoms.

It wouldn’t be a Pride weekend without spending some time with Orlando legend Leigh Shannon! whcf sat hambShe will be performing two cabaret dinner shows at Hamburger Mary’s Orlando. At press time, we learned that the first show (seating at 7:30 and performing at 8:30) is already sold out! You can still get seats for the second show (seating at 10:30 and performing at 11), but move fast and call now to reserve your spot. (321) 319-0600

La reina latina, Miss Colorina, will be having her birthday party at Valentines in Tampa. The theme is “pajama party” and Colorina requests that you come dressed in your favorite pajamas. Cover is free before 10:30 and there will be a show starting at midnight featuring the birthday girl herself.
