I got to stop at various bars, clubs and restaurants throughout central Florida and I was blessed to have so many people celebrate my special time with me! The gay community of Lakeland is inducting the female impersonator Burgandie Myst into the Gay Lakeland Hall of Fame. Pulse in Lakeland will be hosting a night of entertainment honoring her, hosted by Danika Panic. Be there starting at 9 p.m.!

Friday November 22

whcf_fri_flamForget that big-haired Long Island Medium! Let some gay men read your thoughts! Flamingo Resort in St. Petersburg hosts “Mind Gaymes,” the world’s first-ever gay mind-reading show! Call ahead to reserve your seat at (727) 321-5000. This mystifying experience starts promptly at 8 p.m.

Did you watch Janelle Monáe when she was on Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago? With the release of her new album The Electric Lady, she has been performing the house DOWN with such hits as “Q.U.E.E.N.” and “Dance Apocalyptic.” She will be performing at Hard Rock Live in Orlando, stopping in Central Florida on her Electric Tour. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets start at $27.50. Roman GianArthur opens for Monáe.

Saturday November 23

Tampa gay bar staple City Side is celebrating its 24th anniversary with a turnabout show! They’re hush-hush about who will be performing, but it will be sure to be hilarious! Help City Side celebrate 24 years in business starting at 9 p.m.

The late Andy Williams sang the holiday standard “It’s the most wonderful time of the year,” and ushering in that great time is the event Jingle Eve at Ivanhoe Village in Orlando. There will be a festive neighborhood open house from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., and a boat parade on Lake Ivanhoe starting at 6:30 p.m. The Happy Holidays sign on top of the Ivanhoe Building will be lit for the first time in 20 years, so be sure to see it!

Parliament House in Orlando is hosting a fabulous night of celebrity impersonations called La whcf_sat_chadCage. Chad Michaels, the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars, is perhaps the best-known Cher impersonator in the world, and he will be on hand as the night’s special guest. I wonder if he’ll wear a copy of Cher’s famous newspaper wig from her “Woman’s World” music video! The shows will go on with the Footlight Players at 10 p.m. and 12 a.m.

Dede Taylor will be giving up her crown this evening and a new Miss Sawmill will be crowned at Sawmill Resort in Dade City. $1500 in prizes are up for grabs, and the queens will be judged in four categories: Winter White Presentation, Evening Gown, Talent, and Question and Answer. The opening number starts at 8 p.m., and applications are accepted until 2 p.m. on the day of the pageant ($125 entry fee).

Wednesday November 27

The first of three fun drag shows across central Florida to get you past this hump day will be held at Georgie’s Alibi in St. Petersburg. Cocktails and Queens promises to give you fierce female illusion starting at 10:30 p.m., with a regular cast consisting of Robyn Demornay, Kori Stevens and Amanda D’rhod.

There will be a big Thanksgiving Eve bash at Parliament House in Orlando, called “Wildest Wednesday.” It will feature four Florida queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race. Central Florida audiences already know Lineysha Sparx from Orlando and Alexis Mateo from Tampa. Lashauwn Beyond will be coming up from Fort Lauderdale and Jade Jolie will be traveling down from Gainesville to round out the special night. Darcel Stevens will be hosting the shows at 10 and 12!

Pulse in Orlando will be hosting their own “Wildest Wednesday,” featuring yet another Central Florida Drag Race alum, Roxxxy Andrews, in addition to Miss Gay USofA at Large Angelica Sanchez and Kai’Ja Adonis. DJ Daisy will be spinning some hot hits, and the Pulse Dancers will be there to augment the plentiful eye candy!
