Hey guys! We’ve moved into the final month of 2013. Time flies, doesn’t it? At the beginning of this year, I was living in Arkansas, and in just one year’s time I came back home to Florida, joined the Hotspots family and this will be six months that I’ve been with you all, telling you what’s hot in central Florida! Sadly, I didn’t get to go out this past weekend because I wasn’t feeling well, but I kept tabs on some important events via facebook. Congratulations to Alexis Mateo who won the title of Miss Sawmill 2014! We’re very proud of you. A little bird also told me that this past week was the first anniversary of the Sunday Broadway Brunch with Ginger Minj and The Minx at Hamburger Mary’s in Orlando! Congratulations to the Hamburger Mary’s Orlando family for such a delightful addition. Everyone loves them; they sell out their shows almost all the time! With those well wishes given, it’s time to give you the lowdown on another week. Lots of love to you all!
Thursday December 5
I love Florida; if it doesn’t dip below 70, you can still go swimming or tanning outside even in December! You should check out the sale going on right now at Mojoman Swimwear in Orlando. They are the biggest gay-owned men’s clothing store in Orlando and they’re the exclusive sellers of XVII brand underwear in the entire city. Check out their hot deals today!
As I said last week, Toys for Tots is a charity that’s meant a lot to me since I was a little kid. Chill Chamber in New Port Richey is accepting unwrapped toy donations all this week in exchange for free entry on a night with cover. These toys will be given to the Toys for Tots Pasco/Hernando Chapter for children in those counties.
Sawmill Resort in Dade City promises “the best hoedown ever” (their words!) at their Brokeback Weekend, celebrating all things cowboy. There will be country line dancing, campfires, horse rides, naked cowboy photos (I wonder if he’ll really be naked? hmm…) and more. This event goes on from tonight until Sunday.
Friday December 6
Voices That Care, which will happen at 7 p.m. at Quench Lounge in Largo, is an all-live vocal show and fundraiser for the AIDS Service Association of Pinellas (ASAP). The event will be hosted by Miss ASAP 2013 (and gifted vocalist herself) Anjila Cavalier, and there is a long list of talent (seven performers as of press time!). Proceeds from a 50/50 raffle will be going to ASAP.
