This week DeSantis met with Donald Trump in Florida, purportedly discussing potential support for Trump’s reelection bid. This encounter marked their first in-person meeting since DeSantis suspended his campaign in late January. During his campaign, DeSantis criticized Donald Trump’s tendency to praise individuals who show allegiance to him, regardless of their competence. This week, Trump praised DeSantis on Truth Social, saying, “I am very happy to have the full and enthusiastic support of Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida.” The meeting was arranged by their mutual friend, Steve Witkoff, at Shell Bay Club in Florida. Trump’s post said that the conversation was mostly about making America great again and the future of Florida, which Trump thinks is “FANTASTIC!” An official social media account affiliated with the Biden campaign couldn’t resist juxtaposing these remarks with a video clip of DeSantis. In the video, DeSantis asserts that Donald Trump would praise even “the most worthless Republican” if they kissed his ring. All the democratic supporters are commenting on the post wondering why DeSantis did not say anything about the meeting with Trump!
