Stonewall veteran and trailblazing activist Miss Major Griffin-Gracy is now in hospice care. Her partner, Beck Witt Major, announced on Facebook: “Miss Major is at home in hospice…She is comfortable and surrounded by love.” The 84-year-old transgender rights icon has faced ongoing health issues, including a 2019 stroke and recent hospitalizations for sepsis and a blood clot. A lifelong advocate for incarcerated trans women of color, Miss Major led the Transgender Gender-Variant and Intersex Justice Project until 2015. Last year, she told the Democratic National Convention crowd, “I’m not going back. I refuse to go back. And if [Trump] thinks we’re going back, fuck him in his ass.” Supporters can help with her care via fundly.com/missmajor.
