Author: Mark Haines
Curator: Alexander Northman
The Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, FLGLFF, has a goal of bringing the best in LGBT cinema to Fort Lauderdale and the Broward County community. Most film screenings are held at the Classic Gateway Cinema, but a few shows happen throughout the greater Fort Lauderdale area.
Dates for the 6th Annual FLGLFF event will be Friday, October 10th through Sunday, October 12th, picking up again the following weekend, Thursday, October 16th with the Centerpiece film and party and continuing through Sunday, October 19th, 2014. The 2014 event will feature international and culturally diverse films, video and other media that offer historical and/or contemporary perspectives on the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender experience. The Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival is committed to its mission: To enrich, entertain and educate the public, encourage a sense of community through the presentation of films. The festival was originally a part of the final weekend of the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival with less than 10 feature films screened. It has grown into its own festival consisting of 7 days in October and presenting over 80 feature and short films over the 8-day period.
