In May of 2007 Jackson Padgett and Mark Negerete bought Georgie’s Alibi in Wilton Manors, which starting next week will be celebrating its 12th anniversary with 12 days of events. Many of you know that Jackson and Mark bought Bill’s Filling Station just nine months before buying Alibi and have since moved Bill’s to The Drive. They now own and operate 2 very successful bars in Fort Lauderdale.

Between the 2 bars they employee over 120 gay and lesbian employees. Their goals for Georgie’s were to continue the same type of community support that George was a catalyst in doing, to spend a good amount of money in updating their products and services and to better unify the gay and lesbian community and get more businesses working together to succeed and survive in this bad economic time. They’ve proven their ability to achieve these goals and they aren’t stopping there. The café is the perfect example, as they have totally revolutionized what people think of bar food. If you haven’t eaten there since they changed the menu, this is a must! Their goals for the future are to turn Wilton Manors into the arts and entertainment district that it should be, to support as many gay and lesbian charities that truly need help that they can and to create more special events/promotions for the community.
