2 Big Happenings at Sidelines Sportsbar

Hot off the presses, Sidelines Sports Bar’s new 2011 Sports Calendar featuring some of South Florida’s local cuties as sports models, is now available for sale. To purchase your calendar, visit Sidelines Sports Bar, Island City Health & Fitness and some of Wilton Manor’s nearby retailers. Quantities are limited, so hurry and get your copy. This fun and adorable look at some of our community’s talented sports-minded athletes was a cooperative effort by Sidelines, Island City Health & Fitness, and the benevolent donations of two of our area’s professional photographers, Michael Murphy and Jorge Rondon.

The proceeds from the sale of the calendar, priced at only $10, will be donated to Broward House and the Cooperative Feeding Program of Broward County. The 2011 Sports Calendar helps to improve the lives of individuals living with or at risk for HIV and other health issues and will feed hungry bodies, minds and souls by providing nutritious food, information and referral, with compassion and caring.

Each month’s calendar photo features one of the winners from the recent “Model Search” held during the month of September at Sidelines Sports Bar.

The owners and management recognize in order to sustain economic health and continue to grow, they must continue to evolve and change. So, after months of deliberation, and many discussions with staff, loyal patrons, and business-minded folks, Sidelines co-owners, Laurie Whittaker and Marty Kildea, have decided to “bring a breath of fresh air” to the popular gay sports bar! On Wednesday, January 5, Sidelines will become a smoke-free establishment. In order to properly undertake this rejuvenation, various modifications will be made to the bar and it will be necessary to close operations for two days; Monday and Tuesday, January 3rd and 4th. During this time, the staff will be working very hard to refresh, refashion and surprise its customers by creating a new Sidelines!

It must be reiterated that these changes in no way affect the “sports theme” that has made Sidelines the repeated award-winning entertainment venue of Fort Lauderdale since their opening in 2006. They are still Sidelines Sports Bar, “Where Sports Come First”!

The only things that will not change is the fun and friendly staff, the demand for a high level of customer service and a passionate desire to provide Fort Lauderdale’s LGBT community a pleasant and comfortable environment in which gay sports enthusiasts can come together in a place where they can feel at home, while watching their favorite sport, playing a round of pool, throwing some darts, or simply sitting amongst friends over a cocktail discussing the day’s events.
