The Ultimate Contest for Wannabe Chefs

For the second year in a row, Sidelines Sports Bar, will hold its Summer Cook-Off Competition pitting rival customers for fame, prizes and bragging rights. This friendly competition will showcase the cooking abilities and recipes of some of South Florida’s wannabe chefs.

Similar to last year’s competition, each Cook-Off date will feature a specific food item and each contestant’s creation will be judged by a panel of three judges.

To register, contestants must see a manager on duty and obtain the “Basic Cooking Rules” and “Judging Criteria” for the competition. As there is limited availability to the number of entrants for each Cook-Off, it is suggested that candidates register as soon as possible, but no later than the Friday before the competition date. The 2011 dates and food entries of each Cook-Off Competition are as follows: Sunday, July 17th Chili Con Carne, Sunday, August 7th Chicken Wings, Sunday, August 27th Summer Salads and on Monday, September 5th the FINALS (Featuring the Top 3 Winners of Each Competition). The First Place Winner will receive a cash prize of $300, the Second Place Winner will receive a $100 Gift Card from Sidelines, and the Third Place Winner will receive two $25 Bar Tabs.

At each event, patrons will be able to taste each entry, if supplies last, and judge for their favorite. A “People’s Choice Award” will be given to the winner.

“This was one of the most fun events we had last year and I’m sure this year’s Cook-Off will be even better and more spirited,” commented Laurie Whittaker, owner of Sidelines Sports Bar.

Is it possible that President Barrack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. read my recent article in Hotspots Magazine on why same-sex couples should be allowed to legally marry?
