Our 26-year-old company becomes Hotspots Media Group

Hotspots’ readership has almost tripled since the introduction of our online virtual magazine and smart phone and iPad apps. We knew we had to move forward with something different and it seemed only fitting that we change our name to reflect that. We are now known as Hotspots Media Group.

Hotspots’ readership has almost tripled since the introduction of our online virtual magazine and smart phone and iPad apps. We knew we had to move forward with something different and it seemed only fitting that we change our name to reflect that. We are now known as Hotspots Media Group.

I was aware from the get-go that I would not go with just print alone because the media industry is changing and that traditional print medium has really evolved and now includes the fast-paced digital world.

Hotspots five year plan unveiled changes that make our publications more available to our readers and advertisers. It began with our state-of-the-art website with turn-page technology, which has made it easy for readers to “flip through” the publications online.

Next, we partnered with Edge Media, a successful national LGBT website, to provide Florida content for nearly one million subscribers. As the evolution continued, our goal was to 100% of the LGBT community in Florida by introducing our Spanish publication, Genre Latino, recognizing the importance of our vibrant LGBT Latino community.

Last year Hotspots made an investment in Apple technology and unveiled iPhone and iPad apps later adding Android and Blackberry keeping our advertisers and readers ahead of the curve technologically.

We continued to evolve by offering two versions of the magazine – one serving South Florida and other Central Florida. Both publications feature ads, articles and photos from both areas since Hotspots’ readers tend to commute. With this, we unveiled our100 % Florida campaign embracing Florida as the second largest LGBT state in the nation with over 650,000. Our goal is to encourage both readers and advertisers to experience all that we have to offer from the Keys to Jacksonville and everything in between!

We are not stopping there; I am very excited to announce the recent opening of our newest office in Miami. We are proud to share space with the Miami Dade Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce on Washington Avenue in South Beach, making this our third office along with Tampa/Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.

We’re extremely proud of the changes we’ve made these last few years. Here we are in the most challenged economy in recent memory and we continue to expand because of our clients’ belief in the power of Hotspots and the hard work of everyone in the Hotspots family.

With all of this expansion we remain true to our roots. Our mission all along has been to raise the profile of Florida as a premier LGBT destination.

We believe in our future and take pride in our 26 year track record serving as the voice of the LGBT community. Our company’s investment in these changes has been positive and we will continue to invest in our wonderful state and are thrilled about the evolution from Hotspots Magazine to Hotspots Media Group.

Now, once again we ask you to stay tuned as we prepare to introduce yet another new product, which we plan to unveil in a few weeks bringing more technology to both readers and advertisers.

Thank you for being a part of the Hotspots Family! You are the reason we love what we do.
