That Midwestern maven of beauty and style, Miss Richfield 1981, again graces The Manor for two nights next weekend (February 17 & 18 at 8 pm). It’s been a year since she was in the area, and now she’s coming back with an all-new show. We heard all about it when Miss R called us while she was on the road.

Thanks for phoning in and chatting with us.

Miss Richfield: Always a pleasure Scott! I’m sorry about reversing the charges, but I’m at a Popeye’s in Akron, Ohio. I’m on the Greyhound heading to Lauderdale and the bus is only stopping for a few minutes to unplug the toilet in the back. Oh those seniors and their diapers! So we’re going to have to make this quick.

I know you were just in Ft. Lauderdale on the Atlantis cruise. How was it?

MR: The entire trip was lovely, but my favorite part was when we stopped at the port of Labadee, which is in Haiti. It’s a lot like Hialeah, only most of the people speak English. I hope that I’m not overstating this, but I really feel that some of the nicest foreigners I’ve ever met were those Mexicans in Haiti.

That was just over a week ago! Why didn’t you just stay down here?

MR: I had to motor back to Minneapolis for the big “Michelle Bachmann Welcome Home Party.” Her husband, Marcus, demanded that I perform and he is such a fan! I only wish I had not given him my home phone number. Fortunately the party was held at the bus depot, so I just did a couple numbers, spent some personal time with Marcus and got back on the bus to come to The Manor!

Wow, with all that time on the bus, I bet you catch up on your reading.

MR: I’m too busy living life to be reading about it, Scott! My bus ride is spent sitting up in front visiting with the driver.

Then tell us about your new show, “2012: We’ll All Be Dead By Christmas.”

MR: This year I’m taking a celebratory approach to the impending Armageddon with new music and new videos. I love to keep my audiences informed and up to date!

How did you make that type of message happy?

MR: The end of the world is not an easy topic, but you know me, I’m a glass-is-half-full sort of gal, and I am sick and tired of the negativity in the world today! I believe that you can make anything positive if you really try – for example, chlamydia. Next question.

That’ll be interesting, but who should see your show?

MR: Everyone – the gays & the straights, republicans & democrats, tea partyers and tea baggers – the apocalypse does not discriminate. Not to mention that The Manor is such a beautiful venue that the homos can invite neighbors and family members who might not feel comfortable in your garden variety homo bar where your feet stick to the floor.

What else would you like HotSpots readers to know about you or your show?

MR: Nothing! I have to run, the driver is motioning to me and she is one tough gal. Her name is Wally and she waits for no one! It’s the Greyhound, Scott, and the dirty dog keeps running! See you soon!
