Last Week in Review
A week ago Tuesday was the culmination of a weekend filled with events for the Alibi’s 15th anniversary. Jackson, Mark and their entire staff made Tuesday an unforgettable night with great entertainment led by Nikki Adams on the main stage and Debra Hampton in the Manchester room (who was also celebrating her anniversary), the annual ring ceremony for employees that have reached their 5 year employment with the Alibi and an incredible amount of giveaways that started at 8 pm and went till after 11pm. Thousands of dollars in prizes were given out and a fun time was had by all. Congrats to the entire staff for 15 wonderful years and we are all looking forward to the next 15! On Thursday Sidelines Sports Bar had their Kick-off Beach Party benefiting the Florida AIDS Walk and it was a huge success! Sidelines was tastefully decorated and transformed into a tropical beach bar, with umbrellas, beach balls, beach chairs and more. Thanks to Frank Ortiz, Al Morris and Keith Allen for a great job.
Also on Thursday, Save Dade celebrated the launch of a new young donor program called the Young Guardians with a party at Chalk. The party was filled with lots of young handsome guys who want to give back to our community and as Martha Stewart says: “That’s a good thing.”
On Friday, was the first annual Black Heart Uniform Ball at Boom and starred DJs Tony K (back from retirement) and Fort Lauderdale’s own Jimmy P. The Ball had some very attractive men dressed in uniform and some almost out of uniform (yummy). Those with VIP tickets had access to the top floor where hors d’oeuvres from MOJO were served. Everyone seemed to have a great time, as hot men in leather and uniform danced to the sounds of great music. The Ball was a benefit for a new Cancer Support Initiative at Broward House, as well as the Leather Archives & Museum. See you all there next year!
Sunday afternoon I went by the popular Wilton Bier Garden for their popular Diva’s on the Drive starring Amanda Austin and guests. This is a fun outdoor show!

Get ready to sparkle, baby! Seven-year-old Eden Wood rocked the child pageant world when she announced she would be retiring from the competition circuit after six grueling years of dominating her rivals. Over 300 crowns and a legion of adoring fans were great, but being the natural entertainer that she is, Eden needed more. At the top of her game, Eden and her high-energy, show-biz loving mother Mickie Wood were eager to share their secrets with a new crop of girls striving to achieve their beauty queen dreams. “Eden’s World” will follow Eden and her mom each week as they coach a child beauty queen and her mother at a pageant somewhere in small town America while also pursuing Eden’s career as an actress/singer/model in New York City. But it’s not all glitter and spotlights, as making it in NYC proves to be a bit tougher than Eden, or her team, anticipate. The new docu-series, comprised of 8, 30-minute episodes, will prove pint-sized powerhouse Eden is destined to be the center of everyone’s attention. “Eden’s World” premieres tonight at 10PM on Logo.
