Fashion’s Not Dead this Summer!

With the arrival of summer in South and Central Florida, one tends to think that the seemingly endless supply of fab fashion events taking place throughout season will dry up like a desert watering hole!

Luckily, this is certainly not the case for hungering fashionistas, as two upcoming fashion forward soirees will soon take place in South Florida, attracting the glitterati and cocktailers alike by showcasing the latest stylings of adidas SLVR, Y-3, and David Yurman.

Over the past couple of years, adidas SLVR has made quite a name for itself among the gay elite by hosting by-invitation only soirees for members of the gay community at the legendary clothing boutique, BASE South Beach. Partnering with 42BELOW vodka, the store showcased their past fall, spring, and summer collections to hundreds of well dressed partygoers, and on Thursday, May 17th from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. adidas fans will get the chance once again be the first to see the latest collection of not just adidas SLVR, but its mega high end sister brand Y-3 as well – all while indulging in free 42BELOW Vodka cocktails!

Inspired by the classic silent film Metropolis, the new adidas SLVR 2012 Collection is bold and futuristic and continues to produce a sharp sportswear style. Under the creative direction of Dirk Schönberger, adidas SLVR continues to evolve its high-fashion perspective, combining precision tailoring with high quality fabrics and a sport attitude. A great bridge between the regular adidas Originals offering and the high fashion Y-3 line, while keeping the price in the mid-range.

Once everyone has had their fashion fill for the evening, the party will move to the new Queen Lounge at 841 Washington Ave. for the official afterparty, which will take place simultaneously with Edison Farrow’s new weekly party, Retro Riot Thursdays.

Less than a week later, hungry fashionistas will get satiated once again at the über-exclusive spring showcase and shopping event at David Yurman in Bal Harbour Shops. Known as one of the trendiest sculptors of his generation, David Yurman has also become one of the most popular high-end jewelry designers for men and the men who love them.

On Wednesday, May 23rd the jewelry boutique, along with dot429, will be hosting a private, by-invitation only spring showcase and shopping event, benefitting South Florida’s largest HIV/AIDS service organization, Care Resource.

“Due to the smaller space and fundraising component of the event at David Yurman’s Bal Harbour Boutique, we chose to invite guests by invitation only,” explains dot429 spokesperson Anna Peirano. “The Bal Harbour event is an intimate shopping experience in which David Yurman staff are able to personally guide dot429 members through the new spring collection of jewelry.”

“Ten percent of all sales at the David Yurman boutique the night of the event will be donated to Care Resource,” says Anna. “For over 27 years, Care Resource has provided HIV/AIDS research, prevention, care, and treatment services to individuals in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties and has become South Florida’s oldest and largest HIV/AIDS service organization. In a time when funding is down nationally for HIV services, these are critical times for exposure and additional funding, which is why decided to partner with them on this event.”

And although the invitation to this private soiree is one of the hottest tickets in town, it’s really the afterparty that is going to have everyone talking. Taking place at the fabulous pool of the Surfcomber Hotel from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., the party will feature the latest David Yurman jewelry pieces on gorgeous Ford Models, while revelers imbibe complimentary vodka cocktails and enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres courtesy of the Surfcomber Hotel.

“The afterparty at the Surfcomber is a chic, poolside networking event embodying dot429’s philosophy of ‘Cocktails, Conversation, and Cause,” says Anna.

Of course, the afterparty will also serve as a fundraising event with a portion of the proceeds from the night going to the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.

If you are interested in attending any or all of the events, email events@tebentertainment.com for more information.

I look forward to seeing all my fashion forward divas on the runway with a cocktail in tow!
