Last Thursday started out with the Quarterly GLBX luncheon at the beautiful B Ocean Hotel with guest speakers Ralph Quintero of the Great Business Project who spoke very eloquently about being successful in business and from whom I felt I learned a lot in a short amount of time.  Congrats to the Chamber for another very fabulous event. Also that day was “Dinning Out For Life” and many Broward restaurants participated to raise much needed money for Broward House.On Saturday, there were many events that I will sum up by saying: Bear Invasion, Nina Flowers and Inferno Puerto Rico. On Sunday, there were also many events. The morning started out with the annual Miami AIDS walk, which once again was a huge success and raised tens of thousands of dollars for Care Resource.

The afternoon was so beautiful I headed over to the busy pool party at Depot (where else can you lay by a pool all afternoon and there is no cover and great music) to see my buddy DJ Scott Mann spin away to the delight of the crowd.Remember the pool at Depot is open 7 days a week, so take advantage! In the late afternoon, I was back to Miami for the official Aqua Girl Kickoff party at the Palace. Later that night, my buddy AJ Reddy started a new Sunday night party at Score entitled Seduction Sundays, so if you want to be seduced every Sunday and hear the beats of AJ, check it out, its fantastic!

The Manor presents a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta. In the Latin room and patio they feature hostess Viva Mirage with special guest Taina Norell, who will also be celebrating her birthday along with DJ Larry Larr. In the Main room they present FU e= FU⁸ fashion show with DJ Oren Nizri.

Solare Coliseum in association with Alex Infiniti and XXXtreme Saturdays presents RuPaul’s Drag Race season finale party starring Season 5 star CoCo Montrese alongside Marytrini and Estephania St Lords with DJs Otto and Delma.

Hilton Wolman, in association with Score, presents Salvation Cinco de Mayo and birthday celebration for Mr. Wolman. Music by Miami’s own DJ Abel.

Bill’s presents their annual Cinco de Mayo party starring Porsche with special guest, direct from New York City, Sherry Vine. Show time is at 11 pm with a balloon drop at midnight.

Sunday, May 5

The Depot Cabana Bar and Grill presents a Cinco de Mayo T Dance from 2-6 pm starring DJ Bill Hallquist.

Rumors will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo all day long. From 11 am until 3 pm get a free Cinco de Mayo grab bag with each drink purchase and from 3 pm to 8 pm you get a free raffle ticket with the purchase of any drink and every hour they will pick a $100 winner. In addition,from 3pm to 10 pm they will feature a $10 all you can eat Taco buffet.

Cashetta’s  show at The Alibi will have a special Cinco de Mayo theme. In addition they will feature a Pulled Pork Chimichanga with Rice and Beans (or choice of side) for only $9.95.

The Grand Opening of New York Grilled Cheese takes place today from 5:30 until 7:30 with emcee Misty Eyez, big raffles and prizes and 20% of profits to benefit Broward House. In addition, that night they will be celebrating the birthday of owner Leor.

“The Great Gatsby” writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann and collaborators Shawn “JAY Z” Carter, an executive producer on the film, and Anton Monsted, its executive music supervisor, revealed the lineup for the movie’s soundtrack, which encompasses the broad spectrum of musical styles represented in this energetic re-telling of the classic text.  

“The Great Gatsby” follows would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks.  Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan.  It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits.  As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.
