Beach Bear Weekend

After the success of last year’s inaugural BeachBear weekend, year number 2 is here and promises to be even better than the first. BeachBear weekend takes place from Wednesday May 8 through Monday May 13^th with close to 30 events to appeal to your bearish tastes.

After the success of last year’s inaugural BeachBear weekend, year number 2 is here and promises to be even better than the first. BeachBear weekend takes place from Wednesday May 8 through Monday May 13^th with close to 30 events to appeal to your bearish tastes.

When asked why he and his partners started this event, Bob Young said: “We started this event because Fort Lauderdale is such a natural place to have a great and healthy vacation.  I took a Caribbean cruise earlier this year and the best beach was the one we left from, Fort Lauderdale. The bear community, who, by the way, come in all shapes, sizes, and races, are a very generous group.  The monies raised through the Bear Tags and sponsorships from our businesses go to Sunserve.  We just want everyone to get to enjoy this beach and Fort Lauderdale the way we know it. We ask them to buy our Bear Tags that will let them have a great time at the clubs and our parties.  That is how the Bears can give back.  This event has been produced on a shoestring and a beach.  Have a great BeachBear!!  WOOF!”

Sunserve is a local charity whose mission is to provide critical life assistance and professional mental health services with an emphasis on the economically disadvantaged, marginalized youths, and senior adults in Greater Fort Lauderdale.

Below is the Beachbear Schedule of events:

Wednesday May 8

6-8pm – Beachbear Welcome Party – Village Pub

Thursday May 9

5-8pm – Go Nuts at Coconuts (429 Seabreeze Blvd) – BeachBear Happy Hour and Kick Off Dinner- across from the Marriott Courtyard Host Hotel.   Discounts with Bear Tags.

9pm- Cowboy Up At Scandals – The back patio will be stompin with hot men and discounts and surprises given with your BeachBear Bear Tags! 

Friday May 10

8am -11am Wake up at the Marriott at the Beach (host hotel) with breakfast. Get ready to hit the beach.

11am- 5pm – Get Wet At Gay Sebastian Beach- all afternoon with hot men on our famous gay beach!  Jet skis, parasailing & drink specials from Fat Tuesdays w/ your bear tags!

3pm-7pm- Club Fort Lauderdale Pool Party– fun and sun and open buffet.  (Membership required TheClubs.com) or call for information.  954-525-3344.

6-8pm Wilton Drive Food Crawl– Check out the restaurants on the drive with your Bear Tags for discounts and specials from Rosies, Tee Jay Thai, Courtyard Café, and others.

8-pm- Midnight – Growl at Bill’s Filling Station – Sunserve and Bills present this hot bear cruisin institution and it’ll be packed  (suggested donation $5).

Midnight to 3am – Ramrod – Friday night with hot bears and locals with DJ Herbie James.

3am – All Night Party At Slammer- Private men’s club with DJs; bring your own booze bar, and where a lot of the hot men end up. Membership only.  (321slammer.com).  

Saturday- May 10

8-am-11am – Breakfast at Marriott Host Hotel

11am- 5pm – Get Wet At Gay Sebastian Beach- all afternoon with hot men on our famous gay beach!  Jet skis, parasailing & drink specials from Fat Tuesdays w/ your bear tags!

5pm- 8:30 pm- Beachbear Cruise Party – Marriot Pool Deck w/ the cast of “Where The Bears Are” the sensational web series with: Rick Copp, Joe Dieti, Ben Zook, and Ian Parks. This party will feature amazing views of the beach, and the men while rocking with DJ Jeffrey Jacobs. Suggested donation w/ Bear Tags- $5.

5-9pm – Wilton Drive Food Crawl– Check out the restaurants on the drive with your Bear Tags for discounts and specials from Rosie’s, Tee Jay Thai, Courtyard Café, and others.

10pm – The Meat Ball at Boom features100% PURE BEEF. BeachBear takes Boom by the balls with DJ Alex Ramos and DJ Roke pounding out the beats.  Suggested donation w/ Bear tags $5.

1am – All Night Party At Slammer- Private men’s club with DJs; bring your own booze bar, and where a lot of the hot men end up. Membership only.  (321slammer.com). 

Sunday May 12

8-am-11am – Breakfast at Marriott Host Hotel

11am- 5pm – Get Wet At Gay Sebastian Beach- all afternoon with hot men on our famous gay beach!  Jet skis, parasailing & drink specials from Fat Tuesdays w/ your bear tags!

1pm- 5 pm – Spirit of Fort Lauderdale Adventure Cruise- Out on the open ocean in a huge catamaran (Boat slip A109/A/111) with your hot new Bear Buddies enjoying the coast off the gay beach. 3pm-7pm – Put Your Boots Up at the Scandals Saloon Patio –Enjoy some great cruising and drink specials hangin on the back patio.  Come meet some special four legged friends in support of Abandoned Pet Rescue, a no-kill animal shelter right here in Fort Lauderdale.

5-9pm Wilton Drive Food Crawl– Check out the restaurants on the drive with your Bear Tags for discounts and specials from Rosie’s, Tee Jay Thai, Courtyard Café, and others.

5pm- 8:30pm – Hydrate T-Dance on the sun deck of the Marriot Hotel. Enjoy the  Pulsing beats of DJ Barry Huffine. $5 suggested donation to Sunserve.

8-pm – Go Go Bear Dance Party with DJ Ted Eiel at the Manor. Go Go Bears provided by CubCuda productions. Suggested donation of $5 with Bear Tags goes to Sunseve.

12 midnight – All Night Party At Slammer- Private men’s club with DJs; bring your own booze bar, and where a lot of the hot men end up. Membership only. (321slammer.com).  

Monday, May 13
