GBar (1401 E. 7th Ave., Tampa), the dance club that opened up in the GaYBOR District seven years ago, is having its anniversary party on Saturday, November 16, starting at 9 p.m. The night’s special guests, originally from Long Island, are the DJs, remix artists and music producers Razor N Guido. This is in addition to GBar’s traditional lineup, with VJ Charles Machado in the video lounge and a drag show with Amy DeMilo, Alisa Summers, and the GBar cast. To thank customers for making GBar the venue it has become over the past seven years, there will also be a balloon drop with money and prizes totaling $1000.
When asked what has made GBar so successful, D. Stephen Moss, co-owner of Florida Entertainment Group, said that it was due, in part, to the club’s atmosphere, which he described as “equal parts neighborhood pub, state-of-the-art dance club, college frat party, and family reunion.” He also credited it to, “[the] eclectic environment reflective of the historic charm of Ybor City…[the] emerging international talent showcased on a world-class sound system and performance stage, and the commitment to bring the most exciting themed events and parties with a priority on customer experience. Making a commitment to hire the best visual designers, construction team, artists, management staff, with a focus on service and community partnership has been the driving force of our company since the beginning.”
The national and internationally-known talent that has performed at GBar speaks truth to their commitment. Their resident DJs include such well-known names as Saturday’s special guests Razor N Guido, Hector Fonseca, Kidd Madonny, Yiannis, Alyson Calagna, Gustavo Scorpio, Moto Blanco and Wayne G. Their long list of entertainers has included Lady Gaga, Natalia Kills, Kat Graham, and Prince Poppycock. Finally, who can forget the weekly performers, which include the current reigning Miss Gay USofA Classic, Amy DeMilo, and RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 4 queen Alisa Summers.
Moss was very proud of GBar’s achievements and was thankful to the community for embracing it. “There are so many more wild times ahead, so strap yourself in and hold on for the ride!…I know that I speak for everyone within our organization when I say thanks for the most successful past seven years and we are looking forward to the next seven and beyond.”
