HotWorks.org Presents 5th Annual Boca Raton Fine Art Show

This fine art and fine craft event showcases world-renowned artists from around the globe and top-notch local artists including glass, clay, wood, fiber, jewelry, sculpture, paintings, photography, and metal. All work is original and personally handmade by the artists in the show. There is art work for every budget – something for everyone. This event is juried by art professionals based on originality, execution, and overall presentation. Approximately 125 accepted professional artists with all forms of discipline show their work for sale each year.

In order to attract high quality art, there are $1,500 in professional artist awards distributed as follows: two $500 Judge’s Awards of Excellence & five $100 Awards of Excellence.

In addition, art demonstrations will be taking place throughout the weekend. Patrons can learn techniques of how some of the art work is made.

There will also be live entertainment with various rhythmic musicians performing throughout the weekend for your listening pleasure.

Among the many artists we would like to tell you about two out artists who will be featuring their works as part of this fabulous weekend.

Dan Barnes

Born to a family of builders and craftsmen, Dan Barnes experienced firsthand the satisfaction of creating something from an idea or inspiration. Henderson County, Kentucky served as the backdrop for his education in art and craftsmanship as he worked alongside of his father and uncles. He graduated from high school in 1976, receiving the senior superlative of most artistic in his class. He earned his BA in Human Environmental Design from the University of Kentucky having studied under Arturo Sandoval, Miles Weiner, and John Tuska. The love of creating his own designs was what led Dan to open his own business in 1986.

For over fifteen years, Dan has earned an outstanding reputation in the design community for his design flair and top quality craftsmanship seen in his upholstery and furniture design business. His upholstered pieces have been featured in several interior design shows.

Seeking another creative outlet, Dan began experimenting with stained glass several years ago. After studying the craft from Laura Hallock in Lexington, Dan began creating his own original designs combining light, color and texture. Dan was awarded top honors for his stained glass in local art shows and has moved on to many artistic accomplishments.

Sarena Mann

Born in 1950, Sarena was raised in the Chicago area. Art materials were prevalent in her home and she spent many joyful hours making simple gifts from wire, clay, paper, paints, and fabrics. Sarena made her first mobile from papier-mâché during a high school art class. After extensive studies in sculpture with independent artists and at the University of New Mexico, she traveled to Asia for six months in 1975, studying the arts and cultures. Her travels provided the seeds of inspiration for “Aircraft”. Upon her return to the United States, she launched “Aircraft” as a means of marketing the small figurative sculptures she had begun to create prior to her departure. The materials and form have been refined and expanded over the years, creating an amazing array of flying female figures.

In addition to the flying figures, Sarena has expanded her artistic vision to other media, materials, and images. Several themes continue to recur. This work speaks to the life journey of every woman, the need to celebrate points of transition, and to mark significant passages. The figures bear loving witness to the important work of the female psyche. Together the pieces represent the spontaneous celebration of women’s lives and spirit.

It has been a blessing for Sarena to create the figures from common materials and a joy to share the figures.  Today all the figures are sold under the name Sarena Mann Studios and continue to touch the hearts of all free spirited people.
