Celebrate ORGULLO es más enfocado en cultura, talento y herencia – Celebrando nuestras culturas y talentos al resto del mundo. Respaldamos y celebramos PRIDE completamente y sus logros. Nuestra programación es no solo para nuestra comunidad LGBT, pero para que todos vean, conozcan y celebren nuestros logros – no diferencias – así de construye una mejor, más fuerte, tolerante y diversa comunidad. Además, ¿a quién no le gusta una buena fiesta?
¿Cómo es diferente que en años pasados?
Este año estamos expandiendo y agregando muchas cosas nuevas y divertidas al festival – Comenzando con nuestros concursos de baile Salsa en TWIST – sept. 11, HAVEN – Sept 23 & Sept 30, JAMBOREE – Sept 24, BAILO -Sept 24, WET BAR – Sept 26, y en NLS@MANOR – Sept 27. Los finalistas compiten en nuestro escenario el 4 de octubre. También tenemos un Festival De JAZZ Hispano en el Betsy South Beach hotel: Sept 24- 8pm: BARBARA ALONSO; Sept 25- 8pm: RICK JAZZED con el pianista Bill Campbell; Oct 1- 8pm: ROLANDO POLO, y Oct 2- 8pm: NEW WORLD SYMPHONY.
El Festival Celebrate ORGULLO ofrece más de un mes de eventos, culminando en el festival el sábado 4 de octubre en Collins y la 73 Street en Miami Beach – todo divertido y entrada gratis!

El Festival de Literatura en el Betsy, presentando a MARIA MEJIA (Colombia), ELLIOT TORRES (NYC), ALBERTO GARCIA PUJALS (España), y más – con sus últimas publicaciones, anécdotas y la oportunidad de conocerlos en el festival. La artista de fotografía ASHLEY KOLODNER estará presente para hacer sus fotos para el proyecto nacional, GayFace.
El Mini Beach Ball Dance Competition – con 5 categorías, 5 trofeos, y la oportunidad de presentar tus mejores movimientos y poses al estilo Vogue, en el escenario principal del festival, 4 de octubre. Tenemos una serie de cine corto – el Miami Short Film Festival – presentando 5 obras con temas hispano LGBT, bajo las estrellas.
De todos los eventos planeados, ¿cuál es el evento más esperado?
Personalmente, estoy súper contento de presentar a GIOVANNI FALCHETTI –estrella de pop – directamente desde Chile. La increíble BARBARA ALONSO – ganadora del premio OTI de música. VINNA ROUGE y JEI nuestras estrellas adoradas de teatro y televisión, y el rapero y bailarín, RYCH NIEL, ¡el cual promete ponernos todos a bailar! La series de Jazz y literatura con talento de todas partes del mundo… Como ven, me es difícil escoger el más esperado o favorito, así que voy a verlo TODO, y ¡los invito a que me acompañen en las celebraciones!

Why is it necessary to have another gay pride festival in Miami Beach?
Celebrate ORGULLO is more focused more on culture, talent & heritage – Celebrating our cultures & talents that are hot in the rest of the world. We fully support PRIDE y its success. Our programming is not just focused on our LGBT Community, but for all to see, learn & celebrate our accomplishments – not differences – This way we may build a better, stronger, more tolerant and diverse community. Besides, who doesn’t love a great party?
How is it different this year than in years past?
This year we have expanded and added a lot to our list of fun & exciting elements for the festival, starting with our popular SALSA Dance Contests: TWIST – Thurs, Sept. 11th, HAVEN – Tue, Sept 23 & Tue, Sept 30th, JAMBOREE – Wed, Sept 24th, BAILO – Wed, Sept 24th, WET BAR – Fri, Sept 26th, and at Noche Latina Saturdays at MANOR – Sat, Sept 27th. Winners will compete for prizes and bragging rights on our stage on Oct 4th.

The MINI BEACH BALL competition, presented by the Fla. Dept. of Health, with 5 categories & trophies for each, let your inner VOGUING skills get put to a test on our main stage. We have partnered with the Miami Short Film Festival & Borinquen Health to present 5 works focused on Hispanic LGBT themes, free & under the stars on October 4th.

Of all of the events that are planned this year, what´s the one you are most excited for?
Personally, I am super excited to see Chilean pop star GIOVANNI FALCHETTI perform on our stage, the incredible BARBARA ALONSO, winner of the OTI music award. Our hometown darlings VINNA ROUGE Y JEI, stars of the stage and TV, and rapper & dancer RYCH NIEL – who is sure to get us all up & dancing. The Jazz & Literary Series, with artists from across the globe… As you can see, it’s difficult for me to highlight or choose my favorite, so I plan on seeing it ALL, and invite everyone to join me in the celebrations!

WHAT: Free and open to the public, Celebrate Orgullo® features music, dance, refreshments, vendor booths, and more! Proceeds will benefit our year round programming, workshops, community leadership & the UC|CU LGBT College Scholarship Fund, majoring in Art, Design & Education.
