Friday, April 17

Care Resource is hosting a community fundraiser to benefit AIDS Walk Miami from 6-9pm at Dapur Asian Tapas and Lounge located on 1620 North Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale.  With each paid twenty-dollar admission, guests will receive a complimentary beverage and passed hors d’oeuvres.  In addition, there will be live raffles for a 40″ HDTV, an android tablet and a hotel stay in West Palm Beach.

Hunters Nightclub celebrates its 1st year anniversary for Furr Friday! They invite everyone to come out and celebrate with a complimentary buffet, Sexy Dancers and other surprises. Music by DJ Sol from to 9:30pm.

PAN, Performing Arts Network presents PAN Choreographers at Work at 3 pm, featuring performances by some of South Florida’s culturally diverse dance ensembles and independent choreographers.  As part of the In-Studio Performance Series, PAN Choreographers at Work will showcase performances by Ballet Flamenco La Rosa, Momentum Dance Company, Tradisyon Lakou Lakay Afro-Haitian Dance Company, Atma Dance and Nina Martin, along with several independent choreographers.  With seating limited to just 100, the performances provide an up close and personal experience in PAN’s intimate, in-studio theatre in North Miami. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door; $10 for members, seniors and students.  Limited seating, advance purchase recommended.  Performances take place at the Black Box Theatre Studios of PAN, 13124 West Dixie Highway, North Miami.  For tickets or further information, please call (305) 899-7730, or online at  http://bit.ly/17cul6b

 
The new South Florida-set documentary film Uncle Gloria: One Helluva Ride! tells the darkly funny story of Butch, a 67 year-old macho homophobic auto wrecker from Hollywood, Florida, who hides from the law as a woman during a nasty divorce, and then makes it permanent reinventing herself as transgender activist Gloria Stein. Today from 4 to 6 pm there will be a party to help raise finishing funds for the film at Miami’s recently restored Vagabond Hotel which will include light food and drinks, live jazz music, a silent auction, a chance to meet the film’s director and cast, and a sneak peak of some of the documentary..
