X Factor Alumni Fifth Harmony Tour Florida

The girl group Fifth Harmony is considered to be one of the most successful music acts to have been “discovered” by the Fox reality competition The X Factor. They have sold over four million singles since forming in 2012. Now, after they’ve released their debut album Reflection, they are going on a promotional summer tour. They will be making four stops in Florida: the Florida Theatre in Jacksonville on Tuesday, July 28 at 7 p.m.; The Fillmore Miami Beach on Wednesday, July 29 at 7 p.m.; Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater on Thursday, July 30 at 7 p.m.; and the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando on Friday, July 31 at 7 p.m.

Fifth Harmony consists of five singers: Ally Brooke Hernandez, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane Hansen, Camila Cabello, and Lauren Jauregui. Camila Cabello and Lauren Jauregui are South Florida natives, both having grown up in Miami-Dade County. The group was formed live on The X Factor season two in 2012, after all five of the singers made it past the first round as individuals but failed to progress to mentoring at the judges’ houses. Simon Cowell helped them form a group together, allowing them to advance in the competition. They ended the season placing third.

The group has been inspired by a number of genres, such as classic pop, blues, gospel, and Latin pop. They once described their musical style thusly: “We want our songs to be fun, positive, and inspiring, and for our vocals to shine through, The songs are a direct reflection of us and what we go through. Because we’ve been able to co-write, we’ve been able to personalize our music and make it relatable.” Their debut album, Reflection, was released in January 2015 and yielded hit singles like “Boss,” Spledgehammer,” and the million-selling “Worth It.”
