Last Tuesday, the Monthly Mack Mixer took place at Su Viche on Las Olas and once again had the crowd. On Wednesday, New York Grilled Cheese presented their annual “Cheese-A-Rama” hosted by Daisy Deadpetals, which was a benefit for the Smart Ride and raised thousands of dollars. Also, on Wednesday MiFo Producers Circle Mixer and Kick Off Party for Fort Lauderdale’s section of the Film Festival took place at a private home…it was beautiful! Starting on Wednesday night and going all weekend, the Alibi celebrated their 18th anniversary with different events every night. From the crowds I saw all weekend, you can tell the Alibi is loved! On Thursday, GLBX presented the official launch party for Artopia 2015 at Audi Fort Lauderdale. This was a great event and of course it didn’t hurt to see all those beautiful Audi’s. On Friday, Unity Coalition presented the annual Leaders, Legends and Lovelies Ball at the Victor Hotel, celebrating “the good, positive and outstanding within our LGBT community.” At this event, the Legends Honors will be given to allies of the LGBT community in South Florida. One of the honorees was my good friend, Milancita, who received the much deserved Unsung Hero Award. On Saturday, Magic City Casino presented Taylor Dayne and Coro at Stage 305. Taylor sang all her famous hits that brought me back to my teenage years. Also on Saturday, the Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus presented “Fall Follies!” at the NSU Art Museum, Ft. Lauderdale, which as always was entertaining. On Sunday, the Ramrod celebrated their 21st Anniversary and featured $1,000 in cash and prizes, including a free helicopter ride, a balloon drop at midnight, and 50 CDs of the hit single “Ramrod Muscle” by Bryan Reyes and of course the annual Anniversary Pin give-a-way, which everyone always rushes to get. I know people that have the pin from every year.

Singer Simon Le Bon, keyboardist Nick Rhodes, bassist John Taylor, and drummer Roger Taylor recorded Paper Gods in London with producers Nile Rodgers, Mark Ronson, Josh Blair, and Mr Hudson. The record features special guests Janelle Monáe , former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, Canadian Juno-Award winning singer Kiesza, British singer/songwriter Mr Hudson, violinist Davidé Rossi and actress Lindsay Lohan.
The songs — already being heralded as the band’s best work since Rio — capture the true essence of Duran Duran, with the duality and sense of conflict that has always been at the heart of their music. Visceral and daring, the album mixes hard-edged, contemporary pop with the band’s darker more experimental side to create a body of work that is epic in its scope.
The lead single is the infectious and future classic “Pressure Off” featuring Janelle Monáe & Nile Rodgers.
