Shoes say a lot about a person. They can show professionalism and dedication, especially when matched well with a great dress outfit. They can also show your individuality, from brightly-colored sneakers to funky flip flops. In this feature, you’ll get to see eight pairs of shoes I like. Hopefully you’ll like them too!
SHOES FOR WORK
Cole Haan Air Conner – These shoes perfectly marry Nike Air technology with a classic leather look. Pair them with dark-colored denim and dress pants to look the absolute snazziest. Available in denim, mushroom, ironstone and sage colors. $99.95 at Cole Haan outlets and at colehaan.com.
Oxford & Finch Dress Shoes – If you’re looking for shoes for a more polished affair, such as a gala or another special event, these shoes will do in a pinch. The uppers are made of faux-patent-leather and feature a square toe design. Available in white and black from sizes 7 1/2 to 13. $59.99 at Kohl’s stores and at kohls.com.
Steve Madden Felcore Dress Boots – Fall is the time of year to wear boots in most parts of the country, and even though we’re in Florida, you can wear a cute boot that doubles as a dress shoe. The shoe features a side zipper, leather lining and leather upper sides. Available in black from sizes 7 to 13. $110 at Macy’s Florida stores and at macys.com.
Lenox Hill Venetian – This comfortable slip-on shoe is very dressy and shows that you mean business. The shoes are fully lined in leather, with leather upper sides, and they also have a full rubber outsole. Available in black and dark brown. Mix and match; they can go with anything! $119.95 at Cole Haan outlets and at colehaan.com.
SHOES FOR PLAY
Athletic Propulsion Labs Techloom Pro Glow-In-The-Dark – Colorful sneakers are very popular, and I found one that’s my absolute favorite. These shoes are neon-yellow with blue laces, and the uppers are made of knitted polyester mesh and the insides are also lined with polyester. They glow under UV lighting, too! $140 from Saks Fifth Avenue stores and saksfifthavenue.com.
Polo Ralph Lauren U.S. Open Sneaker – This shoe was introduced for the 2015 U.S. Open and has become a huge seller. Made by New Balance for Polo Ralph Lauren, the color scheme on this shoe is blue and red, it features mesh panels and a mesh insole, and of course the embossed Polo pony. $85 at Polo Ralph Lauren outlets or at ralphlauren.com.
Vans Old Skool – I’ve loved Vans sneakers ever since I was a teenager, and my love affair with these cute and comfortable shoes continues to this day. Vans goes retro with their “old skool” designs, which are remakes of the original Vans skate shoes. These shoes feature suede uppers, re-enforced toecaps, and Vans’ signature waffle rubber outsoles. Available in black, Formula One red, and Olympian blue. $55 at Vans outlets, big-box shoe stores, and at vans.com.
Hurley Phantom Free Flip Flop – It wouldn’t be a Florida shoe spread without mentioning flip flops! Let’s face it; most of us would wear them everywhere if we could! These flip flops are made of Nubuck leather and synthetic rubber, the latter used for the upper lining and for the sole. Available in black, black/white, Lyon blue/black, and Total orange/grey. $59.95 at Nordstrom stores or at nordstrom.com.
