One of the dancers coming to Florida for the Ballroom with a Twist-Mas! show is Gleb Savchenko. Originally from Russia, he has competed on a number of Dancing with the Stars franchises with celebrities, including the U.S. version, where he was paired with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules star Lisa Vanderpump. I talked to Gleb about the show and his career in this exclusive Hotspots interview.

When did you first know that dancing was going to be your career?

When I won my first Russian Championship at the age of 12. I realized that’s what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

Tell us a little bit about Ballroom with a Twist-Mas! How does one combine ballroom dancing and the holidays?

I’m very happy to be a part of the Ballroom with a Twist-Mas! show. It’s currently one of the best American dance theatre shows. People love dancing, especially during the holiday season, and they have a chance to see a dance performance in an intimate theatre with all the world’s best dancers in it.

You’ve competed in a number of Dancing with the Stars franchises, and right now you’re in the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. How are you doing? Who is your partner and how well are you getting along?

I’ve been doing DWTS in four different countries. At the moment I’m doing Strictly and I’m paired with a TV presenter, Anita Rani. We are doing very well and at the moment, we’re going through week 10 of the competition. Hope with all the hard work we put in, we will be able to get into the final and maybe win the Mirrorball.

In the U.S. version, you were paired with one of our favorite LGBT allies, Lisa Vanderpump. What was it like getting to know her? Do you two still keep in touch?

Yes, Lisa was awesome and we had lots of fun together. We are still in touch and every time I’m in L.A., we get together for dinner and drinks. She is a great gal!

How would you convince our readers to come out and see Ballroom with a Twist-Mas?

Last time I performed with Ballroom with a Twist was a year ago and it was an absolutely awesome show. I would definitely recommend that all the dance fans should come out and see this new incarnation. If you love dancing and amazing singing with this live band, then this is the show you must see.
