Ra’Jah O’Hara Talks ‘Drag Race’ Season 11, Upcoming Projects

In week seven of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 11, the mini challenge had the girls competing in a good old fashioned potato sack race, but not the ordinary way. The girls had to get into 20 minute bodacious drag and the race would be slow-mo with jugs jiggling and plenty of ru-ography. The winners were Nina and Shuga, who each won $2,500 in cash courtesy of Hask Hair Products.

The Maxi challenge was to use all natural ingredients to make a farm to runway look. However, the final look needed to be worthy of New York Fashion Week. Alyssa Edwards was brought in to give the girls pointers for their runway presentations. The guest judges were Amber Valleta and Kandi Buruss.

In the end, Plastique finally won a design challenge (well-deserved as her outfit was sickening) winning a five day trio to Toronto. Ra’jah and A’keria were the bottom two with Ra’jah (finally) sashaying away.

At what age did drag become an interest and how did you pick your name?

I think I was about 20 when I started. I was given my name by my original drag mom. She told me Ra’jah meant beautiful, but I came to find out it means hope.

How many times did you apply to be on RuPaul’s Drag Race? How did it feel when you found out you got chosen?

I only auditioned once and it was an overwhelming emotional experience when I found out I got picked. I cried like a baby, I was anxious, I was proud…there were so many emotions!

Tell us about your RuPaul’s Drag Race experience?

It was an experience that I learned a lot from, but it was the most challenging thing I have ever done. It is definitely the Olympics of drag! Overall I am excited about my placement and what I was able to show.

Is there something you wish you did differently and/or is there a certain look you wish we could have all seen?

In the last episode I probably would have chosen to throw a lining underneath my pants or went with another material. I think the fabric choice did me in.

What’s your marital status?

Baby, I am single—don’t know if I am looking, but I am waiting for Mr. Right to make himself known. I am drawn to confident men, and guys with artistic ability.

Now that you’re out of the running, who do you want to win?

I want my sister A’keria to go ahead and bring it on home. She is a winner no matter what. If not her, then Silky.

What’s ahead for Ra’jah?

There is so much more ahead for Ra’jah! I am really excited about the projects that I am working on, which include music and fashion. As soon as I finish these projects, I am taking myself on the road to perform for all the lovely fans. To find out my schedule, or to get some cute merch check out my website: Therajahohara.com.
