Ingredients
1 lb. ground beef
½ small onion
1 teaspoon of onion powder
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
½ teaspoon of paprika
½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
½ teaspoon of Cinnamon
Salt to taste
1 cup of shredded mozzarella
¼ cup of shaved parmesan cheese
1 egg
1 package of frozen puff pastry (should contain 2 sheets)
3 tablespoons of canola oil
Directions
Allow puff pastry to thaw and come to room temperature. Over medium high heat add oil and sauté diced onions until just translucent. Add dry spices and then ground meat and cook until brown. Remove from heat, drain off excess grease, and allow to cool. On a lightly greased cookie sheet, lay out one sheet of the puff pastry. Sprinkle evenly with half the cheese mixture. Evenly distribute ground meat over cheese, but about an inch from the edges of the puff pastry. In a bowl, beat the egg, and brush some of the egg mixture on the vacant edge of the puff pastry. Sprinkle remaining cheese over the meat, and then cover with the other sheet of puff pastry. With a fork, press the top sheet into the bottom as you would do if you were seaming a pie. Make random holes in the top of the pastry so that steam can escape and brush the top of the pastry evenly with the egg wash. Place in the oven for one hour until golden brown. Allow to cool for 10 minutes, cut and ENJOY!
