Welcome back to this week’s edition of Hotspots. I can’t begin to tell you how pleased I am that we are able to offer you the option of reading us online and back in print for the first time since the pandemic began. We made a conscious decision to go digital only as many businesses were closed and our distribution network was limited to just outdoor boxes. Unlike other LGBT publications, we publish a fresh magazine every week, 52 weeks a year, and have never missed an issue in our 35 years history. Today, I’m happy to report that many of our beloved LGBTQ businesses and services are ramping back up and following the new CDC guidelines. To help, we will start by printing a monthly edition the first Thursday of every month (Next Edition: July 2nd). The weekly edition is still being published every week online with fresh content as always. I don’t need to tell you that these are very difficult times for all of us and, while it seems cliché to say; we will get through this together!
On Monday, the Supreme Court issued a major win for the LGBTQ+ community and issued a ground breaking ruling that prohibits workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. While marriage equality was a major win for us under the Obama administration, this 6 – 3 ruling means that employers can no longer discriminate against anyone simply for who they love or who they are.
Happy Father’s Day, and Have a great week. Also, don’t forget to tune into Hotspots Live every week for the latest video news and entertainment right here in South Florida! HotspotsLive.LGBT
