Free Movies by Moonlight – Presented by Humana in partnership with the LOOP takes place tonight (Angels in the Outfield) and May 19 (Remember the Titans) at 5pm. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a favorite movie date to Movies by Moonlight on the Main Lawn at Las Olas Oceanside Park. All movies begin at 7:45 p.m. Come early to dine at The LOOP’s curated food truck vendors or take part in a Yoga Fusion Class ($10-15 – cash only), led by Lisa Pumper, alongside visiting National Senior Games athletes. The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum (SBRHM) is celebrating its first half-century with two Town Hall Tea Time events in in its newly remodeled space in historic Town Hall at 71 N. Federal Highway (33432). The first event takes place today at 2pm and is “Where were you in ’72: Foods of the 1970’s.” People of all ages will get a kick out of this nostalgic, but not necessarily health-conscious, look at the popular foods, candies, and tasty treats of the era. Vanessa Carosella, Mary Isenbek and Susan Gillis, Curator of the Boca Raton Historical Society, will look back at the cuisine, food, and restaurants of the 1970s. NSU Art Museum presents Creativity Exploration: Paper People from 12-1:30pm. Creativity Exploration adult workshops promote the benefits of creative exploration and the mind-to-body experience. Studies have shown that 45 minutes of creative activity a day reduces stress and offers mental clarity and relaxation. In addition to producing a sense of well-being, sessions expand participants’ perceptions of forms, while increasing brain connectivity through visual and cognitive stimulation. The workshop is led by educator Lark Keeler, a specialist in mindfulness education. No prior experience is necessary. Advance reservations are required, by going to: nsuartmuseum.org. Admission is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

Wilton Manors Community Affairs Advisory Board along with neighbor partners will again host a wonderful event in the Hagen Park lot in honor of Bicycle Safety Day. Beginning at 9am their own police department will display its cycling unit, show proper helmet and light use as well as register bicycles on the spot. At 10 a youth bike rodeo; at 11, adults get a chance on the rodeo circuit and at 12 noon starts a scavenger hunt. To volunteer or have a booth/be a vendor email eventswiltonmanors@gmail.com. The South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble and Island City Stage have teamed up to present Tales from Broadway, a special one-night-only engagement at the Broward Center for Performing Arts’ Amaturo Theater on  at 7:30pm. The extraordinary collaboration pairs eight talented vocalists from Island City Stage with professional musicians from the South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble who will perform selections from some of Broadway’s greatest hits such as Chicago, West Side Story, The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Wicked and A Chorus Line. Hosting this unforgettable concert and sharing hilarious, insider anecdotes from the musicals and their stars is the legendary Seth Rudetsky, a Broadway aficionado and host of Sirius/XM Satellite Radio’s On Broadway. Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale will come to life with artwork and live entertainment as part of the 4th Annual ART + STROLL, presented by BBX Capital and hosted by Business for the Arts of Broward (BFA) from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Guests will have the opportunity to connect with the visionary group of business leaders at BFA during the event, enjoy local live entertainment performances, as well as juried art exhibit of fine art for sale, including but not limited to photography, painting, drawing, printmaking, paper art, fiber art, wood, clay, metal, glass, sculpture, fashion, mixed media and NFTs. The Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center presents BenDelaCreme in “Ready To Be Committed” at 8pm. The Art and Culture Center/Hollywood’s Cuisine for Art fundraiser returns in person to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood from 6pm to 9 pm. This fundraiser features elected officials and community leaders serving as Celebrity Waiters during an exciting and entertaining evening. Guests enjoy complimentary wine, beer, vodka and scotch cocktails, a three-course dinner, live and silent auctions, entertainment, and awards presentation. Noche Latina Florida inside the Ivy Dance Room and Patio at the Manor Complex invites the entire community to come out and celebrate their 24rd anniversary. The theme for the night will be “Copacabana Beach” and star Sasha Lords, and Oscar Novva, along with DJ Duniel Juan and sexy Latin go-go papi’s. In addition, there will be over $2,400 in raffles, and giveaways. Saturdays at the Manor the doors open at 11pm and feature only a $5 cover until midnight: and $10 from 12 to 1am and $15 after 1am for (FL Res) and $15 all night for non-residents.

Cobra Joe Productions presents the next Wilton Manors Car Show today from 10am to 2pm at Wilton Manors City Hall (2020 Wilton Drive). Admission is free for spectators (vehicle registration is $25 at cobrajoeproductions.com) and features all makes and models of cars. The event is hosted by a DJ and there will be food trucks on site.

Island City Stage invites the community to listen, laugh and vote for South Florida’s funniest during its Stand-U, Stand Out Comedy Contest in advance of PRIDE Month featuring feature local comics Peter Bisuito, Brian Coronado, Michael Evans, Mai LG aka Mrs. Saigon and Seetharaman “Seetha” Radhakrishnan performing at Island City Stage. One winner, chosen by a panel of local celebrity judges including Rod Hagwood, Michelle Solomon and Scott Ryan, plus audience support, will receive a $100 gift card and an opening guest spot role for select performances of “The Mystery of Irma Vep” that runs June 9 – July 10. For the seventh year in a row, four of Broward’s most beloved family-friendly attractions have joined together to offer the 2022 ‘South Florida Adventure Pass’. For one unbeatably low price, locals and tourists alike can enjoy unlimited admission this summer to Museum of Discovery and Science, Butterfly World, Flamingo Gardens, and Sawgrass Recreation Park. This incredible savings pass will be sold at each of the participating attractions beginning May 15, granting unlimited admission to each location until September 30, 2022. The cost is $50 plus tax, per adult ages 13+ and $40 plus tax, per child ages 3-12. Dr. Thomas Smith and Dr. Sheryl Zayas of Care Resource Community Health Centers Inc. are being honored by Mental Health America of Southeast Florida for their positive impact on the mental wellness of others in South Florida during their 26th Annual Epic Awards on Wednesday, May 25. The Exceptional People Impacting the Community (EPIC) awards are presented to members of the community who have exhibited exceptional service through their actions, advocacy, leadership or service delivery to the most vulnerable in our community.
