It’s finally fall, which means only slightly cooler weather here in Florida and a little less sweat on the dancefloor.
Huge stars – including Nicki Minaj, Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift – are releasing new music that’s sure to find its way onto your playlist as the perfect soundtrack to your autumn adventures.
Hotspots has compiled a list of the most anticipated albums coming out this fall.
Sept. 29
Green Day – Dookie (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)
Ready to feel old? This year marks the 30th anniversary of the first time you heard the masturbation anthem “Longview,” Green Day’s first mainstream hit from their album, Dookie. Other faves from Dookie include “Basketcase,” “When I Come Around” and “Welcome to Paradise.” The Anniversary Deluxe Edition includes unreleased demos, outtakes, collectibles and more.
Jorja Smith – Falling or Flying
British singer-songwriter Jorja Smith, known for the singles “Blue Lights,” “On My Mind” and “Be Honest,” returns with her second album Falling or Flying. She dropped its first single “Little Things” and a video in May. Although she is still somewhat new to the music scene, she has already collaborated with big names like Drake, Stormzy, Kali Uchis and Burna Boy.

Sufjan Stevens – Javelin
Javelin is Sufjan Stevens’ first solo album since 2020’s The Ascension. The LP and CD versions will both include a book of art and essays. The singer has released nine studio albums and wrote and recorded two singles for the Call Me By Your Name soundtrack (“Mystery of Love” and “Visions of Gideon”). The first single from Javelin, titled “So You Are Tired,” dropped in mid-August.
Joni Mitchell – Archives, Vol. 3: The Asylum Years (1972-1975)
Ms. Mitchell’s Asylum Years features rare recordings of songs from the early 1970s – including a live version of “A Case of You” recorded at Carnegie Hall in 1972. The singer-songwriter, known for her personal lyrics, has influenced many of your favorite contemporary singers, including St. Vincent, Brandi Carlile, Haim, Lorde and Norah Jones. The Asylum Years (1972-1975) will be available both in a 5CD/digital version and a 4LP cut-down version. The collection includes a book of photos plus a conversation between Joni and director Cameron Crowe.

Troye Sivan – Something To Give Each Other
Australian singer, actor and twink extraordinaire Troye Sivan’s announced the release of his third album in July. In an Instagram post with a hot photo, he said, “This album is my something to give you – a kiss on a dancefloor, a date turned into a weekend, a crush, a winter, a summer. Party after party, after party after after party. Heartbreak, freedom. Community, sisterhood, friendship. All that.” The video for first single “Rush” starts with a booty slap.

Various artists – A Tribute to The Judds
A Tribute to The Judds celebrates the 40th anniversary of The Judds, the country duo founded by mom and daughter Naomi and Wynonna Judd. Dolly Parton, Jelly Roll, Reba McEntire, Lainey Wilson, Carly Pearce, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Trisha Yearwood, Ashley McBryde, Gabby Barrett and LeAnn Rimes will cover The Judds’ greatest hits.
Taylor Swift – 1989 (Taylor’s Version)
It’s time for another TayTay re-release and to get the party started! The pop star announced in August that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) would drop in late October. Hear about it from the pop phenomenon herself on Instagram: “To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long.” The original 1989 came out in 2014 and featured the hits “Blank Space,” “Shake It Off” and “Style.”

Dolly Parton – Rockstar
After country icon Dolly Parton was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, she was inspired to record her latest album Rockstar. The album will feature nine original songs and 21 rock covers. Grab this release and hear the undisputed queen of country sing “Magic Man,” “Freebird” and even “Stairway to Heaven.” Miley Cyrus, Stevie Nicks, Ann Wilson, Elton John, Steven Tyler, Pat Benetar, Debbie Harry, Linda Perry and more are featured on Rockstar.
Nicki Minaj – Pink Friday 2
The Barbz can rejoice. Nicki’s fifth studio album Pink Friday 2 is finally coming out after a delay. “I love you guys so much. I am so grateful for the years of support & love you guys have given me. At times maybe I didn’t even deserve all that you have poured into me. Nonetheless, you. will. love. this. album.” Nicki posted on Instagram in late June. This year, the rapper released three singles, including “Barbie World” with Ice Spice and Aqua from the Barbie soundtrack.
