Residents Are Concerned About Living Above The New Club Q

Neighbors in southeastern Colorado Springs say they are concerned about the plans a local nightclub is making to move into the building they live in. Club Q’s plans to re-open as “The Q ” at the Satellite Hotel. Construction is already underway on the first floor of the hotel, where the lounge will be going. However, there are dozens of apartments on the upper floor of the building. Residents said they were concerned about noise and safety after the announcement was made. Club Q’s vice president, Michael Anderson, said the new venue will be more of a lounge. He called it a safe space to fill the hole left in the LGBTQ+ community after the shooting. However, Barbra Williams, a resident who has lived in the building for years, says she supports the LGBTQ+ community but has security concerns with people coming and going and wants to save her right to privacy and peace, which she fears will be disrupted by putting a club in this building. Williams and some other residents are happy to see the club reopen, just not in the apartment building. However, Anderson promises that there will be security and the lounge will abide by the building’s rules. They are aiming for a winter opening of The Q.
