Miami Film Festival Celebrates 12 LGBTQ+ Films April 5 – 14

Miami Dade College’s renowned Miami Film Festival, marking its 41st year, is set for April 5-14, 2024. It features Q&A sessions with stars like Heather Graham, Alison Brie, Hector Medina, and Danny Pino. Opening night premieres Josh Margolin’s action-comedy “Thelma.” This year, the festival proudly presents 12 feature and documentary films exploring LGBTQ+ themes and experiences, each offering a unique perspective. Highlighting the lineup is the North American premiere of “Lady Like,” a touching documentary following Lady Camden’s journey from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” to confronting her past trauma. Other notable films include “Fallen Fruit”, “The Queen of My Dreams”, “Vera and the Pleasure of Other”, “All The Silence”, “The Shadow of the Sun” , “Days of Happiness” , “Salt Water”, “Toll”, “Happy Clothes: A Film About Patricia Field”, “George Dureau: New Orleans Artist”, and “Merchant Ivory”. Not only this, the festival will award $100,000 across eleven cash prizes. Actress Molly Ringwald will receive the Variety Creative Vanguard Award, while Tom Hiddleston will be honored with the Variety Virtuoso Award. The closing film will be “Rosalie,”.
