GOP State Representative Fabian Basabe has written an open letter on his Facebook page directed at the LGBTQ+ Community and Queer News Tonight. The letter claims that despite his legislative efforts in support of the LGBTQ+ community, like removing the “prohibition of discussion” from the infamous “Don’t Say Gay bill” and making HIV prevention medication more accessible to those in need; the Pride Board banned his participation. He has threatened to file a Federal Lawsuit on the grounds Pride is funded by government funds. He said he seeks an open dialogue on a public forum with stakeholders to “clear the air’ and tackle the “untruths” about his hard work. He also wants former Queer News Tonight Anchor Al Ferguson to moderate the forum and air his unpublished interview from last year, which he believes would clear up confusion.
