What’s Hot Sep 3rd 2009

I finally had the chance to visit my friend, Jennifer McClain, and her Sideshow Wednesdays at her new home at Karnival Beach Club and what a fun time I had. The night showcases some of South Florida’s finest live vocalists in a cozy jazz club atmosphere. Congratulations to Jennifer on such a successful show, which starts at 8 pm and goes to around midnight. Mrs. Beasley celebrated her 70th birthday and 25 years of writing a column on Monday, August 24th at the Boardwalk Penthouse. Read more about that in the feature in this week’s magazine.

One of my favorite people in the world, Alison Burgos, was honored last Thursday at Halo for her contribution as chair of the Aqua Foundation for 4 years (Alison was also the founder of the foundation).  The event was filled with all the dignitaries of the women’s community as well as lots of media, all on hand to wish one of South Florida’s stars kudos on a job well done! Following that event I walked a couple blocks down Lincoln Road to Score to wish one of Florida’s diva’s, Elaine Lancaster, a very happy birthday.  She celebrated her birthday in an artistic way as Aaron Powell, Cecilia Paz, Joey Mugica, Samantha Perez, Haviart, Romero Britto and other international artists came together to showcase their works of art. All of the art was their own interpretation of Elaine Lancaster and gifted to her. The event was a VIP (invitation only) and filled the main room at Score. Congrats to Elaine for a fabulous birthday and for all the hard work she does on behalf of the LGBT community of South Florida and beyond.

This is Hot

here!, America’s premium gay television network, is pleased to announce the premiere of the third season of the thrilling, sexually charged original series The Lair.  Season 3 of The Lair consists of 13 sizzling half-hour episodes. The season makes its debut on the network Friday, September 4th. The first season of the series, set in a small town, revolved around suspicions that arose when young men turned up dead with vicious, mysterious wounds on their necks.  Determined to solve the crimes, a young journalist, Thom (David Moretti), discovered clues leading him to a private gentlemen’s club called “The Lair,” a lust-filled and erotically energized environment where patrons are able to fulfill their deepest and darkest desires. As he closed in on the truth, he became ensnared by a coven of vampires led by the enigmatic Damian (Peter Stickles). As the series wore on, we were introduced to a bevy of new and interesting characters such as Dr. Jake Waldman, a botanist with a mysterious plant that seems to have a mind of its own and Ian, a wandering lost soul with a dark secret…he’s a werewolf!  The blood-tingling third season of The Lair adds even more mystery and intrigue to the sleepy island town inhabited by a mix of vampires and other supernatural residents. Sexy new characters bring more tumultuous turmoil to the island and leave our cast of characters scrambling to survive. Revenge remains a constant theme, weaving its way throughout the third electrifying season. Characters old and new, each with their own agenda, have arrived on the island to wreak havoc. The race is on to see who will wind up with the power on the island and which of The Lair’s characters will survive! The third season of The Lair will see the return of featured cast members Moretti, Stickles, Colton Ford, Johnny Hazzard, Dylan Vox and Brian Nolan, among others. Additionally, horror and action star Sybil Danning, last seen in Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse, brings her star power to the small screen as The Lair’s enigmatic Frau Von Hess.
