Last Tuesday Hotspots Magazine was proud to host the second annual Holiday Celebration, a benefit for the GLCC Pride Center.
Hundreds gathered in the spirit of the season to raise a glass and enjoy the company of others. The highlight of the evening was when Hotspots Publisher Peter Clark introduced Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler and invited him to address the audience. Mayor Seiler welcomed everyone and praised the good work that the GLCC Pride Center has done over the years and congratulated them on the opening of their wonderful new facility in Wilton Manors. He went on to talk about the importance of the LGBT community and his past experience as the former mayor of Wilton Manors.
Emcee and Hotspots feature writer Malcolm Neitzey of Atlantis Cruise fame kept everyone on their toes as he introduced entertainer Christopher Peterson, who gave us a wonderful prelude to his show “Eyecons.”Christopher’s show, now playing at Rising Action Theatre, includes songs by icons such as Nancy Sinatra, Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand, to name a few.
The Embassy Suites Hotel pulled out all of the stops as the Terra Ballroom came to life in a festive setting surrounded by waterfalls and lush tropical gardens. Catering was provided by The eSpot Restaurant (located in the hotel) and was a delectable assortment of fine foods served to the pleasure of those in attendance.
Someone was overheard saying, “The event was even more spectacular than last year’s,” and that’s a tough act to follow! Adding to the ambiance was an array of spectacular furnishings and accessories provided by Adam’s Interiors. Known for having a contemporary flare, the Adam’s designers went all out with lavish and whimsical furniture that was showcased throughout the venue. People were encouraged to sit, relax and enjoy themselves as the evening went on.
Bringing the event to an exciting close was the silent auction, which featured prizes ranging from a beautiful custom stainless steel bracelet from Argenti Jewelers, a leather chaise from Adam’s Interiors to a Royal Caribbean Cruise. A surprise live auction was also hosted by Malcolm where a second Caribbean Cruise was added to the offering. The Pride Center’s very own Robert Boo thanked everybody who made this spectacular evening so memorable and ended the evening with a big hug to Embassy Suites General Manager Don Freidman and a shout out to his wonderful staff, including Catering Manager Kim and Jerry, who helped us all remain calm as minor crises kept getting averted.
A special thank you to the management and staff of Hotspots and Latino Boys magazine whose unwavering support made this evening possible!
