The fifth eliminated contestant to sashay away on LOGO TVs RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3 is Stacy Layne Matthews. Here is what Stacy had to say.

At what age did female impersonation become an interest?
Probably when I started doing theater, but it was my drag mother, who is cousin who put me in drag when I was 18 for the first time and I caught the bug.

How did you pick your name?
Someone made a joke about the name Stacy Layne and I thought it was sexy. Matthews came from my middle name Matthew.

How did you go about getting on “RuPauls Drag Race.” Tell me about the experience?
I watched the first 2 seasons and was amazed that they featured drag queens on television. At the last minute I sent a video in and I was amazed that they picked me for the show. It was an incredible experience. I am so grateful that I was on the show and made such amazing friends. I am also very grateful for the entertainers that kept it professional and gave us drag queens a good name.

Who do you want to win?
There is so much talent left it is hard. Yara and Alexis are my 2 friends so I would want one of them to win. They are both super talented with individual expertises.

Tell me about the man behind Stacy Layne Matthews?
There is not much of a difference, because I am pretty much open and honest about things and I like to make people laugh. I am a hard worker and I love what I do and I am thankful to have amazing friends that support me with what I do.

Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you.
I am actually incredibly afraid of the dark.

What’s ahead for Stacy Layne Matthews?
I am not just a drag queen, but I actually sing and am what I consider to be a full entertainer. I would like to do Broadway and possibly come out with my own CD, so stay tuned.
