Last Monday, the Day after Gaydays, was the 50th birthday of Malcolm, the cruise director of Atlantic Cruises at Rosie’s. The event was hosted by the Sparkle sisters and all of Malcolm’s friends, colleagues and admirers showed up to pack Rosie’s for this occasion.

Tuesday was the now quarterly Mack Lunch, this time being hosted by the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 on the fabulous Rooftop. Once again the luncheon was sold out and a great place to network. Later that night the Law offices of George Castrataro celebrated the grand opening of their new office in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Congratulations to my buddy George, Tom Runyan, and George’s entire staff on their fabulous new office. On Saturday, Mona’s had a retirement/benefit party for John “Mary” Lyons. John has been bartending in South Florida for many years and it was obvious how much he is loved by the outpouring of people that came to his party. I haven’t confirmed this with Jerry (owner of Mona’s) yet, but I think it’s the busiest Mona’s has ever been as it was wall to wall people.

On Sunday the Palace honored Henrietta who was celebrating her 50 years as a Miami Beach resident. Henrietta, Originally from Boston, was crowned as the first Miss Florida in 1969 and has been a Miami Beach icon ever since. We at Hotspots love you Henrietta as does everyone and wish you many more years of reigning as the queen of South Beach!

Sunday night was the annual Miss Stonewall Pageant at Bill’s and in the end the new Miss Stonewall, who stole the show with her fabulous talent, is my friend Miss Velvet LeNore and the new Mr. Stonewall is Keith Allen (bartender at Sidelines).
