What’s HOT South Florida (3/1/2012 – 3/8/2012)

Last Monday was the annual Carolina Continental Pageants which was moved to South Florida when Alyson Thomas (Momma Bear) relocated here permanently. The Pageant is a 4 in one pageant for Miss, Plus, Elite and Mister. Once again Alyson had a very well run pageant and in the end the winners were Stasha Sanchez, Jasmine Skiis, Dana Douglas and Lewis Nicholson. Congratulations to all! On Wednesday night, my friend Dawn of Gone by Dawn Productions had the grand opening of her Bazaii Lady Boy Cabaret at Andrew Restaurant in Boca Raton. The restaurant was sold out (standing room only) and will now feature the Cabaret every Wednesday with show times at 7:30 and 9:30 pm. On a side note the food was delicious. I highly recommend the Salmon, but I am told everything on the menu is amazing. Can’t wait to go back!

On Thursday the GLBX and the RBC came together to produce a business luncheon at the beautiful B Ocean Hotel. The luncheon featured key note speaker Gary Bittner talking about tips and trends in marketing in 2012. Congratulations for 2 great organizations coming together to produce such a successful luncheon. Thursday evening hundreds gathered at The Northern Trust Bank on Las Olas for the Pride Center’s Founders Circle monthly Event. Making this evening even more special was the outpouring of love for Paul Hyman as he presided over what was to be his last event as Director of one of Florida’s most successful LGBT community centers. As Paul prepares to move on to new challenges in New York he was thrilled to introduce Robert Boo as the Center’s newest Director. As Robert approached the microphone there was greeted by a loud chorus of Boos from the audience (which in this case was an out pouring of love and well wishing). Welcome back Robert: We look forward to great things and working with you in the future to help make Florida the best place to work and live! Sunday evening we attended the third annual Besties Awards hosted by the Manor Complex in Wilton Manors. This annual tradition celebrates the best in community and also features numerous large video screens where onlookers enjoyed watching the Academy Awards at the same time being entertained by Joe Posa as the fabulous Joan Rivers during the commercial breaks.

Centaur Entertainment, the premier gay record label, is pleased to announce the new release of Global Groove: Dance 5 mixed by DJ/Producer Escape. DJ Escape mixes this new CD with his signature style of vocals and high-energy heart thumping beats, which will make you move and groove. Global Groove: Dance 5 is available in stores nationwide beginning March 6, including iTunes and Amazon worldwide. Global Groove: Dance 5 is full of exclusive mixes brought to you by DJ Escape himself. “I chose the songs for this project based on what I am playing in the club right now with a mix of high energy tribal & vocal anthems,” shares DJ Escape.

Kicking it off is DJ Escape’s exclusive mix of the new Deborah Cox hit, “If It Wasn’t For Love”, already a top ten dance club hit. Next, it’s “time for hootchie-cootchie” with the new smash hit from music icon Gloria Estefan, “Hotel Nacional.” This song made history for Estefan when it debuted at #1 on the Billboard Latin Song chart, making her the first woman to do so. From the multi-platinum group The Jonas Brothers, Joe Jonas follows with his top ten dance track “Love Slayer”, heard here with a great Ralphi Rosario mix. The artists on Global Groove: Dance 5 read like an international who’s who of dance music: Pepper Mashay, John LePage, Stephan Grondin, Ceevox, Eddie Baez, DJ Chus, Chad Jack, Yinon Yahel, and more! You’re going to love this non-stop dance party!” With the release of Global Groove: Dance 5, Centaur Entertainment and GuySpy.com, are heating up gay clubs everywhere with the 2012 Global Groove Tour featuring DJ Escape.
