Some of the contestants came up with parodies that they committed to and I saw some of the best work of the season. Unfortunately, South Florida local and my good friend, Latrice Royale, ended up in the bottom 2, but her incredible lip synch for your life kept her on the show and it was Dida Ritz’s turn to sashay away. At what age did female impersonation become an interest?
When I was 9 or 10 years I loved watching my mother getting dressed every day. Once I saw RuPaul I was hooked as I loved the transformation and it made me curious.
How did you pick your name?
I wanted something that would roll off the tongue, something that was easy and memorable. I fell in love with Dida Von Trice and the Ritz Carlton is my favorite hotel so I put the 2 together.
How did you go about getting on “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Tell me about the experience?
I never thought about being on the show but everybody wanted me to, so I finally gave in and auditioned and they called me back a week later. There were a lot of phone calls back and forth and I finally got the call that I was on.
It was a really cool experience. It is tough to stand on a stage and get read, but I took it as a learning experience. I really learned a lot about acting, directing and many other parts of show business.
Who do you want to win?
I want Phi Phi O’Hara to win, because she is my girl from Chicago.
Tell me about the man behind Dida Ritz?
Zavier is very much Dida’s right hand man and he has always had a love affair with drag! They are very much alike, but they differ in that Zavier is much calmer and Dida can go a bit crazy at times.
Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you.
That every day for a work out I do the Single Ladies routine, because I don’t believe in gyms!
What’s ahead for Dida Ritz?
Anything goes. I feel like I am a chameleon and I want to act, dance and do more performing as well as travel the world.
