All this will require changes in your skills, your efforts, your attitudes, or maybe more than one of these, so where should you start?
The first step to changing your life is changing your body. A winner always looks like a winner. The guy who looks the part will always get the result with fewer challenges – whether it is the job, the guy, the money, or fame. If you doubt this, consider the statistical fact that taller guys get a better deal from life all over the world. Did we ever have a President who was 5’2″? Although there are lots of exceptions (Napoleon springs to mind), leaders tend to be taller than average. The same applies to guys who are good-looking, in better shape, have a healthy vibrant appearance, and so on.
So are you ready to accept that appearance matters and start using this fact to your advantage so that you can get more out of life? You may not be able to add inches to your height, but you can dress better, be better groomed, or get your body into much better shape. Clothes and grooming, though, can only go so far if they are attached to a body which is obviously out of shape. Getting in shape is the single most important and powerful thing that you can do to start winning more of the things you want from life. As you build a better body, you will gain a lot more confidence and this will show to the world. Maybe you don’t think that you lack confidence, but if you are fit and healthy everyone around you will notice you have more presence.
Everyone makes judgments about people they meet in a matter of seconds, so having something good for those people to look at in the first few seconds after meeting you will positively affect how you are viewed and the opportunities that will be open to you. Like it or not, people judge from first impressions your ability to take care of yourself, how much confidence and respect you seem to have, how intelligent (they think) you are, and whether or not they want to be around you.
Let me just say that a good body is only packaging, and if there is nothing to back it up, then the good impression may not be lasting, but if you get past the first hurdle, it will enable you to give people a glimpse of your other talents – whether as a co-worker, a fun friend or a lover.
But to get that first impact in the few seconds when people form an impression of you, make the first step in building the new you by improving your physique.
