Stonewall National Museum & Archives (SNMA) announced that local philanthropist and documentarian, Bruce W. Presley, has joined the organization’s board of directors. He has made a significant donation of $30,000 to ongoing operations and the development of a new education program that will create curricula materials for teaching gay history in schools.
Presley will serve on the Board of Directors for Stonewall National Museum & Archives as well as on the planning committee for SNMA’s education program, Stonewall National Education Project, bringing many years of education experience both as a teacher in a private preparatory school and later as a textbook publisher.
“Bruce has been a supporter of Stonewall’s efforts for some time now,” said Executive Director David Jobin. “In addition to financial support, Bruce and his production company, Downtown Loft Studio, have donated thousands of dollars in professionally-created information videos to help us get our message out.”
Bruce Presley most recently extended his financial support and the resources of Downtown Loft Studio to produce a promotional video profiling the SNMA education program, Stonewall National Education Project.
“I am committed to supporting causes that help educate society about issues that affect gay students,” said Presley. “Stonewall is an amazing repository of this information and will have a major impact as it reaches out to educators across the country.”
Stonewall National Museum & Archives promotes understanding through preserving and sharing the proud culture of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their significant role in American society.
The mission of Presley’s Downtown Loft Studio is two-fold. First, it works with young videographers and photographers to further their careers by offering them marketing, artistic assistance and financial support. Second, DTLS produces video documentaries, often in collaboration with non-profit organizations.
