The Miami Lyric Opera celebrated the beginning of its eleventh season in March with a production of La Traviata, followed by a production of Don Pasquale last month. Now that the eleventh season is underway, the opera company would like for everyone who loves their productions to support them by attending their annual fundraising gala, which will be held this year at the Colony Theatre South Beach (1040 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach) on Saturday, May 30 at 8 p.m.
All proceeds raised by ticket sales goes directly to the Miami Lyric Opera so they can continue
La Traviata is a particular favorite of the Miami Lyric Opera company: it was the first opera performed by them back in 2005, and it will return for encore performances on November 7 and 8. Rigoletto will be staged twice, with the first engagement running from July 11-12 and the second running from August 15-16.
Featured singers who will be performing at the Miami Lyric Gala include soprano Nathalie Avila, mezzo-soprano Lissette Jimenez, tenors Jorge Pita Carreras and Lievens Castillo, baritones Daniel Snodgrass, Nelson Martinez and Armando Naranjo, and bass-baritone Gibson Dorce. Jeff Eckstein and Leo Walz will serve as conductors, and Pablo Hernandez is the chorus master. The artistic director is Raffaele Cardone, returning for another great season. Soprano Joy Berta will be making her Miami Lyric Opera debut at the gala.
Tickets are available for purchase online, by telephone or in person at the Colony Theatre Box Office (hours are Tuesday-Saturday, noon to 5 p.m.). Call (305) 434-7091 to place your order, or click “buy tickets” when viewing the Miami Lyric Opera Gala’s web page at miamilyricopera.org/opera-gala.
