Rick Springfield is well-known as both an actor and a singer. His breakout role on ABC’s General Hospital helped him take his music career to the next level. He released four top-selling albums in a row in the early 1980s: Working Class Dog (1981), Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet (1982), Living in Oz (1983) and Hard to Hold (1984). These albums produced five top-ten hits: “I’ve Done Everything for You,” “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “Affair of the Heart,” “Love Somebody,” and the million-selling “Jessie’s Girl.”

The Canadian group Loverboy released their first album in 1980 and would go on to release four more throughout the 1980s, including the quadruple-platinum smash Get Lucky (1981). The single “Working for the Weekend” came from that album, and peaked at #2 on the U.S. pop charts. Other U.S. top ten singles for this band include “Turn Me Loose,” “Hot Girls in Love,” “Lovin’ Every Minute of It” and “This Could Be the Night.”

The Romantics, from Detroit, Michigan, first burst onto the scene with the 1980 hit “What I Like About You,” which became one of the most fondly-remembered rock hits of the decade. They achieved their highest level of success in 1983 with the release of the album In Heat, which has sold nearly a million copies stateside. The single “Talking in Your Sleep” reached the top five on pop charts throughout the world, including in the United States.
