The South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble is starting up its 30th consecutive season with an anniversary program called “30 Years of Pride.” It will be performed one night only at the
This concert serves as the ultimate “greatest hits” package for the Pride Wind Ensemble, as artistic director Dan Bassett and his team select some of their favorite presentations from the past three decades in South Florida. In addition, there will be a number of guest performers welcomed to the stage who will be familiar to viewers, as well as the presentation of beautiful video presentations and special lighting effects. We were told that this is one concert not to miss, as the Pride Wind Ensemble is “pulling out all the stops” for this special evening!
The South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble has been in existence since 1986, when founders Mort Jonas and Bruce Freeman started the organization after seeing a similar one in San Francisco. A member of the Lesbian and Gay Band Association (LGBA), the Pride Wind Ensemble has played host to the national LGBA convention five times. The Pride Wind Ensemble has participated in a number of Gay Games, three Marches on Washington, and three presidential inaugurations. Locally, the group has collaborated with the Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus, Lambda Chorale, In Harmony, MCC Sunshine Cathedral Choir and the Florida Singing Sons Boychoir for some of their performances.
Tickets are priced at $30 per person, and they are available for purchase right now via Ticketmaster or the Broward Center box office directly. People may purchase through the website (browardcenter.org) or by calling the box office weekdays or on the evening of the event at (954) 462-0222.
