2016 Florida Year in Review

Florida’s LGBT community grew to over one million full-time residents in 2016. As we all lived our best lives together in the Sunshine State, we had hope that this year would be a year of happiness, even as an uncertain future loomed large in our minds. Then, the events of June 12 changed everything. After that, we learned that Florida’s LGBT community is stronger than we ever realized. We rallied around one another and stood united in the face of hatred and terror. Even as we enter uncharted territory next year with our new president, our dreams and dignity can never be shattered, for we are “Florida Strong.” Yes, even “Orlando Strong.”
