Pride Factory Turns 21

Starting its third decade, Pride Factory has been a staple of the gay South Florida scene. Over the years, the store has been in three other locations, but moved to its now iconic location on 850 NE 13th St. in 2007.  The community landmark has provided gay residents and travelers with a unique outlet for swimwear, underwear, and trendy apparel from popular fashion designers, as well as jewelry, gifts, cards, pride items, graphic tees and a variety of adult items.

CIN-2 Underwear, Nasty Pig, Cellblock 13, Andrew Christian, and Marco Marco, are just some of the famous brands they carry, but they do sell three brands exclusively in Fort Lauderdale: Addicted, Bully Wear and Pump.

When asked how she feels about their 21st anniversary, Lori Deak (Vice President) said, “I’m excited to be starting our third decade of providing great products and customer service for our customers. I look forward to continuing to be a part of the LGBT community and extremely grateful to everyone who has supported Pride Factory over the last 21 years.”

This year Pride Factory plans to celebrate by giving customers the opportunity to save and to win.  During month of March, stop by and sign up for your chance to win one of many prizes being awarded throughout the month.  Every day brings one new winner of a $10 gift card, and every Saturday we are giving away a gift basket. Additionally, Pride Factory will be offering in store sales and discounts the entire month of March.

Pride Factory invites everyone to join them for their Anniversary celebration on Sunday April 2 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  There will be refreshments with additional prizes including many more gift baskets and a grand prize of a $500 shopping spree. There is no purchase necessary, but you must be present to win the anniversary day prizes.

When asked what’s ahead for Pride Factory, Rocky Bowell (GM) said, “Pride Factory continues to re-invent itself by adding new things into the store. We just added a fetish line form Addicted. Our goal is to do more events in and out of the store. Recently we created an event called ‘Shop For A Cause’ where we partnered with Poverello. We gave them a percentage of the proceeds of that day which went towards the Poverello AIDS Walk Team. The amount we raised was $925 and since it was for AIDS Walk AHF matched it so they received $1,850.

We have an event coming up on April 15 from 5-7 p.m. It’s a book signing of Andrew Christians new book “Sex=Power=Freedom”, and both Andrew and model Jorge Orlando will be here. During that event we will also feature an Andrew Christian fashion show.”

Don’t forget to stop into Pride Factory all month long, and especially on their anniversary extravaganza on April 2 from 5-7 p.m. Check them out at PrideFactory.com.
