HotWorks.org Presents, the Original 16th Boca Raton Fine Art Show takes place today and tomorrow, Sunday, Jan 23 outdoors at Sanborn Square Park and surrounding streets (72 N. Federal Highway). This show is voted in the top 100 art shows in America, and is a professionally juried fine art and fine craft show – all artwork is original and personally handmade in America by the artist in the show! From today through January 30 follow the light to IGNITE, Broward’s new family-friendly immersive art experience showcasing exciting interactive light and video installations by leading contemporary artists and designers. Island City Stage presents the world premiere of Andrew Kramer’s political thriller “Armature” from today until February 27. Racism, homophobia, eroticism and self-hatred are part of this political mystery thriller. Armature is a searing story of love, lust and betrayal. A “burning” is the undercurrent of this gripping drama of which the Armature Bar is at the epicenter. The play connects the stories of two sexy, troubled gay men and a Black family whose matriarch is running for political office. Armature features and ensemble cast including Karen Stephens as Blythe, Matthew Salas as Evan, Michael Ford as Shod, and Yesenia Ozuna as Monica. Joining them is Kent Chambers Wilson (Mama) and Keith Wade (Denson). Netflix presents “Getting Curious” with Jonathan Van Ness. This show consist of six 30-minute episodes where JVN lets his curiosity lead the way as he roves from wigs to bugs, to skyscrapers and gender expression in this new series chock-full of experts and special guests. Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness is an unabashedly smart and quirky exploration into topics and questions that make Jonathan curious. From skyscrapers to bugs, or from gender identity to snacks, each episode follows Jonathan as he meets with experts in various fields to uncover complexities in a wide range of subjects.

Revry premieres STEAM! The Musical, which is a contemporary Western about the conductor of a tourist steam train who deserts his boyfriend for a wild night with a real-life outlaw. STEAM! The Musical, which premieres at 9pm, stars Broadway actor Coby Getzug (Broadway/National Tour: The Book of Mormon (Elder Cunningham), Spring Awakening (Moritz) who is currently starring in the National Tour of The Band’s Visit as well as Barrett Riggins, and Liam Cronin.

LeBoy presents Pole Master and Templo live on stage teaching the boys new tricks all night long. If you can’t catch them today, you are in luck, as they will be at LeBoy tomorrow also, Saturday, January 29.

In celebration of Black History Month, History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will present “60 Years of Black Art,” a fine art exhibit featuring works for show and sale from Dillard Center for the Arts’ Advanced Placement (AP) students, from February 1 – 28. The exhibit, curated by instructor Celestin Joseph, represents historical and contemporary themes of equality from the perspective of students at the very school that was instrumental in overturning segregation laws in the City of Fort Lauderdale 51 years ago. The exhibit will be open to the public at the New River Inn building of History Fort Lauderdale and will be accessible as a digital experience on History Fort Lauderdale’s YouTube channel. Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military and children ages six and under. Hotspots Magazine and Happening Out TV presents “Love Skate” at Xtreme Action Park from 7-10pm. Pride Skate, which takes place the first Wednesday of every month is a fundraiser for Wilton Manors Stonewall Pride Parade and street festival.
